ABC News Exclusive: Pat Tillman’s Mom Wants General Stanley McChrystal Removed From White House Post
Source: ABC News

President Obama appointed retired General Stanley McChrystal to co-chair a commission on military families this week, but according to perhaps the most prominent military family of the last decade, McChrystal is unfit for that duty.

Mary Tillman, mother of Pat Tillman, the former professional football player turned Army Ranger who was tragically killed by friendly fire 7 years ago, is angered by McChrystal’s appointment, telling ABC News that he was part of the propaganda effort pushing the false tale that Tillman had been killed by the enemy, and keeping the truth from the world -- and their family.

“I was actually pretty shocked to hear it; I don't think it’s the appropriate choice,” Tillman told ABC News. “Considering that we have plenty of evidence indicating that McChrystal was involved in the cover-up of Pat’s death...he's not the right person for that kind of a job.”

Tillman says the president's appointment of McChrystal "makes him look foolish, frankly."

I agree. Why the F would you want this man who covered up the truth about a dead soldier to deal with military families? And this guy also dissed Obama and showed he had no respect for the CIC.

16. OnyxCollie, think of it. Every family deserves to know the truth
about the death of a son serving in the military. If it was enemy fire they deserve to know. If it was friendly fire, then, more than ever, the family deserves to know. As far as I understand, the killer or killers of Pat Tillman have never been identified. They know who they are. They have either never taken responsibility for their manslaughter or they have never been brought to justice for intentional murder.

Now these things happen in war, virtually every war. But, in this case, the Tillmans have strong evidence that the truth about the murder or accidental death of their son was covered up -- carefully covered up -- under the command of one man, General McChrystal, who they believe was directly involved in the cover-up.

Yes. The Tillmans have a right to know the facts -- all the facts about the death of their son. And they have a right to speak out about McChrystal.

The president should never have yielded to the pressure from the right-wing who wanted McChrystal appointed to this position. It is an insult to the thousands of Americans who have died and been seriously injured in battle in recent years.

Pat Tillman most likely was murdered for his beliefs.

What is certain is that he, like Jessica Lynch, was a character in a propaganda campaign to increase approval for war. A propaganda campaign like the Pentagon pundits.

A propaganda campaign which no one has faced any punishment for.

62. Wes Clark has met with Mary Tillman, and has said many times that
the Pentagon needs to re-open the case regarding Tillman's death. He thought it all sounded like a cover-up. I remember him talking about this on Keith Olberman's show a while back.

General Clark has always been ignored by Obama. After all, he is a General who happens to be a DEMOCRAT :scared:. Also, he recently wrote a piece in the Washington Post stating the reasons why we should NOT get involved in Libya. (slippery slope/quagmire,etc.).

What a downer.

It's an insult to the genuine sincerity and bravery of our parent-child-sibling-friend-lover soldiers who gave their lives throughout the years.

Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 04:59 PM by freshwest
Obama gave the man another chance and more responsibilities was a need to 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer.'

After the 'birther' doctor hullaboo, these dissidents in the military need to be observed before they attempt a coup. I'm not talking conspiracy, but history.

And if these goons didn't have support with their underlings or the establishment, they couldn't get anything done day-to-day, so they are not without influence no matter what our gut tells us.

I hate to pay their retirement, since when they leave they'll be overpaid by contractors, FOX news or start new careers as lobbyists.

58. I'm really trying to wrap my brain around a few of Obama's appointments..
On this one, speculation upon speculation delivers to me not a wit of anything that makes any sense whatsoever.

Maybe our dear leader isn't actually as bright as we all perceived him to be during the 2008 campaign. Maybe he seemed so intelligent as compared to the blithering moron that occupied the WH before him, and therefore we concluded thusly while breathing a huge collective sigh of relief, looking forward to sanity and reason as well as all the number of things we hoped to see reversed/repealed.
