Democrats File Recall Petitions Against Ripon Senator Luther Olsen
Source: WBAY tv

Wisconsin Democrats have filed recall petitions against a third Republican state senator.

Organizers say they turned in more than the 14,700 signatures required to get a recall election against Senator Luther Olsen of Ripon.

Paperwork was already filed with the State to recall GOP senators Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac and Dan Kapanke of La Crosse. Hopper and Kapanke are challenging the validity of those petitions.

Word from one of our organizers said we got 23,000 signatures when only 14,700 were needed. We had 95% of passersby honking in solidarity, not flipping us the one-fingered salute while we stood on street corners and in parking lots.

As for the others... Grothman is staying, unfortunately. His district is too red, and they love him. Lazich, Harsdorf, and Cowles, however... I have no idea. Don't know enough about them or their districts.

I can't believe the guy who called constituents "slobs" on radio and then national TV is that loved.

42. He's a vile man. It is amazing to me that he gets so much press
When I saw him at the initial hearings the day everyone descended upon the Capital, he never said a word unless it was to twist what someone said to get a media spot. He's gross. And he still lives with his mother.

11. Harsdorf's are at 110% so they should file soon
But their goal is 125% of needed signatures so they're still collecting.

12. Interesting map for recalls
This map superimposes Sen. Districts with latest Supreme Court election results. It does provide some insight for recalls.

AND Hopper as was well. Hopper only won by 200 votes BEFORE his affair affair (and now he is already down 2 of those votes from his soon to be ex-wife and maid) So there you have it. 3 recalled Senators!!

37. Interesting, but I guess we'd need the ward level data to really know...
I don't think these recalls will be as easy as some people think they'll be.

The Kloppenburg/Prosser results surprised me. That it was essentially a tie when we had so much energy and enthusiasm indicates that the teabaggers and their big money backers are going to fight very hard.

Also, are they anywhere close to filing recalls on any of the Fab 14? I figure they are mostly just blowing smoke, but I assumed they'd have gathered signatures on at least a couple.

Nice to see that Olson is from a pretty red area! Hopper is, too, but he's had a lot of bad publicity lately so it's understandable he's going to be recalled

21. Are you in Grothman's district?
I'm in Erpenbach's, so there isn't much I can do in terms of current recalls besides offer support, and what cash I can when challengers start running. Is it as bad in Grothman's as I've heard, or do you think there might be a chance, no matter how slim, that he'll lose in a recall?

22. Yes, I'm in Grothman's district. I spent election day standing...
...in the parking lot of my polling place collecting sigs. Twelve hours netted 60 signatures, but we're a small village in the north reaches of his area. Down in West Bend and over to Port Washington he's very strong.

Best chance to beat him would be with the Republican that ran against him in a primary a while ago. She came close, as I recall.

No Dems even run against him. Chances of replacing him with a Dem are very small, IMO.

45. wow
Thank you so much for doing that, Scuba.

We collected Walker Recall "pre-petition" contact information outside our polling place - slightly red Town of Middleton. In 11 1/2 hours, we had 439 people fill out sheets "committing" to recall Walker and providing contact information.

That was a long, cold and WINDY day. You really are a champ to be working so hard for each signature. :pals::patriot:

Hey, I talked with Grothman briefly today, when I arrived at the Capitol. I asked him if he's a member of ALEC! :D I'll be posting the video tomorrow - I need to get some sleep now!

30. How did these districts go in the Supreme Court race?
I think everyone knows this Supreme Court election was effectively a referendum on Walker and the Republicans, so how did these districts go in Prosser v Kloppenburg? My guess is any district that went Prosser will vote to retain their Republican Senator, and any district that didn't will likely bounce their teabagger.

who refuses to discuss the problems with the voting machines. When I called into his show (waited an hour to get on)and raised my concerns about the voting machines in WI and in the entire country he yelled at me and said he wasn't going "to go there" and Obama won using the machines. It must be one of his "career killer topics"...
