Maine mom missing, baby found in car in NH

CONWAY, N.H. — Police are looking for a Maine woman whose car was found running in a New Hampshire parking lot with her infant child alone inside.

Conway police got a call around 6:30 a.m. Saturday from someone who spotted the car with its engine on and lights flashing in the parking lot at Cranmore Mountain ski area. Police found no sign of the car’s owner, 20-year-old Krista Dittmeyer of Portland, but say her baby is in good condition and is being cared for by family members.

Several state and local agencies helped search for Dittmeyer for most of the day without finding her. Police say her last contact with relatives was by phone around 8 p.m. Friday. She has ties to the Bridgton and Portland, Maine, area as well as friends in Conway.

CONWAY – Authorities were searching for a Maine woman Saturday night after finding her young child abandoned in her car at the Cranmore Mountain recreational facility in North Conway.
The car was running and the hazard lights were flashing when Conway police responded to a call at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Krista Dittmeyer, 20, of Portland is described as white; 5 feet 2, 117 pounds. Police Lt. Chris Perley said Dittmeyer's family said the late model Nissan Sentra is registered to her.
The child, who Perley said is younger than 2, was taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance for evaluation, then released to other family members.

Episode of Criminal Minds had a serious nut case kidnapping (and then killing) women from their vehicles while leaving the baby behind. Life imitating tv?
