Major gas field discovered in Bolivia: president
11:06, April 28, 2011

Bolivian President Evo Morales Wednesday announced the discovery of a new major natural gas field in the South-Eastern Santa Cruz department which increases Bolivia's national gas reserves by over 30 percent.

The discovery is the biggest of its kind in Bolivia in 10 years and was made through a joint operation by the French oil company Total and the Italian-Argentine company Tecpetrol.

Initial production from the new field is projected at 6.5 million cubic meters of gas per day while after five years potential production is seen at 18 million cubic meters per day, Morales said, congratulating the two oil companies for making this important discovery.

The Bolivian president said that based on this new discovery he wanted the oil companies to double their efforts and investments in order to make Bolivia one of the Latin American region's leading countries in the industrialization of gas and gas exports.

3. They've been there for a long time.
The fact that most of the oil and gas is in this one region is why the elites from there tried to overthrow Morales awhile ago. He's got that and the country's relationship with international oil companies well under control, I think. Notice, a leftist president CAN work with companies and all parties can benefit. When people say otherwise, it's just because they think/want the companies to be able to exploit the countries they're working in.

6. It's a LIBERATION, silly.
We'll liberate the Bolivian people from their gas reserves.

After all, if we don't do it, someone else will.

4. Ahh, that's good for another 50 cent hike in pump prices.
Speculator rules say more supply and less demand equals higher prices for the consumer.

5. Good for Bolivia!
"The worst enemy of humanity is U.S. capitalism. That is what provokes uprisings like our own, a rebellion against a system, against a neoliberal model, which is the representation of a savage capitalism. If the entire world doesn't acknowledge this reality, that nation states are not providing even minimally for health, education and nourishment, then each day the most fundamental human rights are being violated."
----Bolivian Reform President Evo Morales

FDR said much the same thing in 1944 with his Economic Bill of Rights.
Bolivian President Evo Morales sounds more like FDR than anyone in the current "Centrist" Democratic Party Leadership.

Viva Democracy!!!
Government of The People, by The People, and FOR the People!
I pray we get some here soon.
