Colorado Wildlife Commission opposes artist Christo's "Over the River" project

About 13 years into the artist's $50 million plan to temporarily suspend 5.9 miles of translucent fabric above the Arkansas River between Salida and Cañon City, the opposition of the Wildlife Commission represents the largest stumbling block for the project to date.

Sounds like an enormous waste of time and money...and very distruptive to the environment as well.

How pretentious and wasteful do we need to get?

6. Well, if as he claims, the work is not just about the physical object
but about the process of communicating his ideas so that people and institutions participate freely and as a community, I'd say that this is just part of the process.

And if the physical object is not suspended over the river, then he still has created a work. An uncompleted work, but a work never the less.
