Exercise focuses on security

PARKERSBURG - The Transportation Security Administration in conjunction with federal, state and local agencies will conduct an all-day training exercise in Wood County today designed to enhance security in the tri-state area.

The Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response operation will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout 5,000 square miles in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

Throughout the day today, the public can expect to see numerous boats, law enforcement vehicles and helicopters, including Black Hawk helicopters and fixed wing aircrafts, operating throughout the county and on waterways, Lowe said.

Participating teams include federal air marshals, canine teams, inspectors and bomb appraisal officers.
