Tracy Morgan in hot water (again) for joking about 'retards,' 'cripples'
Source: Zap2it

Tracy Morgan, who just got over a big-time case of career jeopardy after remarking during a stand-up routine that he'd likely stab any son of his who turned out to be gay, seems to have gone and stepped in it again.

This time, the comedian and star of NBC's "30 Rock," offended an entirely different segment of the population.

"Don't ever mess with women who have retarded kids," said Morgan during a Saturday (June 25) performance at New York's Caroline's Comedy Club. "Them young retarded males is strong. They're strong like chimps."

He also did a bit about having sex with "a cripple" with a dialysis machine and a prosthetic arm.

1. "So, a guy walks into a bar...
orders a whiskey sour, goes to a table and drinks while checking email on his phone." -rimshot-

That joke is also called, no one should give a shit about what a comedian says on stage as if it weren't a performance. If you don't think it's funny, don't laugh, and if on a whole the act isn't funny, don't watch that comedian any more. It's not really complicated.

I think people should be more bothered by the fact that "30 Rock" is on tv. It's about the least funny thing I've ever seen, but I haven't heard a single apology from anyone.

15. Why is there a need on DU to dismiss concerns with racist and other biased, disrespectful language?
What is said on stage and in the media at least reflects what is said in society, and very likely influences it.

17. So are you pro-censorship?
Were you all for the censorship of artwork in Brooklyn a few years ago, because it insulted some Christians?

You may not realize this, but comedians are performers putting on an act. What is said on stage is often funny simply because it is not language that would be used in daily life... and I just proved that discussing comedy is absolutely the least funny thing ever.

Yes, I agree that art and other parts of society are related. However, I think we're a lot better off trying to fix the problems outside of art than blaming art for all of the other problems.

4. Meh. . . don't buy tickets, he won't get booked. . .
I refuse to get riled by what a comedian says on a stage. . .

Had he been in a political rally it'd be different, but he's billed as an entertainer doing standup. I can't know the setup so I can't judge the conclusion, only those in the audience can assess it, and there's no harsher criticism for a comic than a granite audience.

When the club isn't moving drinks and deserts because the audience has walked out, the comedian won't get booked again.

18. Ew. EWWWWWWW. Horribly offensive and just wrong.
Plus, I'm now convinced he's having mental health issues in addition to being a raging jerk. His judgment is clearly compromised.
