Savage says he's sorry -- but stays fired
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2003/07/09/MN158024.DTL

Michael Savage, the outrageous talk show host who was fired from MSNBC on Monday for telling a caller to "get AIDS and die," fought back Tuesday, saying he was reacting to a crank caller.

Savage, the most successful radio host ever to emerge from the Bay Area, said his controversial comments were aimed only at the caller, and that he thought he was off the air when he said them. He also blasted MSNBC for criticizing him.

1. Did he say 'sorry' before he 'blasted', or after?

Savage Lays Into MSNBC for Firing Him

Michael Savage lashed out at MSNBC Tuesday for its decision to fire him after he told a gay caller that he should "get AIDS and die." After posting an apology on his website insisting that he was not aware he was on the air when he made the remarks, he commented on his nationally syndicated radio show Tuesday, "MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves for catering to a mistake like this. ... They're fools, they're just fools, and that's why TV sucks."

4. Let's see, he was fired for the content of his remarks...
to the caller, so his "apology" claiming that he thought he was off the air is stupid. As for criticizing MSRNC for criticizing him, taht's stupid too. I guess he just can't take the heat. Maybe he should pull a Tweety and just yell SHUT UP SHUT UP CUT HIS MIKE NOW!

Never argue with a fool. People might not be able to tell which one the fool is...

9. That was O'Reilly, not Tweety.
Tweety has somewhat redeemed himself over the past couple of weeks. Somewhat. He's nowhere near as bad as O'Reilly though.

5. " At another point
At another point, he said: "I slept quite well. I slept like a baby. I snoozed like a lamb. Because I believe in freedom of speech. The American people understand what went on. I am the underdog. I am Daniel in the lions' den. I am a victim. "

He forgot, "I am delusional"

10. He's amazed that he's not entitled!
Just like trent lott & little rickey santorum, these right wing extremists think that they're entitled to launch any level of venom and invective since they had a 45, 000 vote margin of victory in 2002. They also believe that they will be protected by the "librul noos midya". I believe that, just like his daddy, our great frat boy leader will learn that you can't continually screw the people without them waking up! Even the most conservative of us can recognize unemployment and lint in their pockets. KERRY/LANDRIEU '04!

12. How's It Feel to *******DIE********, WIENER-Savage?
But of all the self-pitying, whiny crap--------it was NOT a "mistake". His defender, O'REILLY, said twice yesterday on the radio and t.v. shows, that O'WHORELY has listened to WIENER's radio show and that WIENER ******DOES THIS ALL THE TIME on the radio**** that it's his "schtick," that he's "a bomb thrower". All of that does NOT add up to a "mistake".

What was the "mistake", that he supposedly didn't know the mic was on? The other identical twin, Don ANUS, said anybody on the air has a MONITOR that is BLACK when you are OFF the air, that this lying excuse is just a LIE.

The other part of O'WHORELY's sticking up for him was that O'WHORELY doesn't believe WIENER *REALLY* wanted the caller to DIE. #1 How does anybody KNOW what somebody else WANTS in their head? #2 Yes, WIENER *did-does* want, what he said, to happen--------*I* KNOW he did-does. So there.

His king-sized shit mouth just gave MSNBC an excuse to do what they would have done soon anyway.

13. Misleading (aka lying) headline.
sor·ry adj. sor·ri·er, sor·ri·est
1. Feeling or expressing sympathy, pity, or regret: I'm sorry I'm late.
2. Worthless or inferior; paltry: a sorry excuse.
3. Causing sorrow, grief, or misfortune; grievous: a sorry development.

Savage didn't apologize. Savage didn't say he was 'sorry' for his own behavior. He said he was 'sorry' that others thought it offensive. That's not an apology; that's blame. It's part of the sociopathology of the reichwing that it's always someone else's fault.

The only way I'd agree Savage is 'sorry' is in the sense that his habitual behavior is inferior and worthless, or that it's grievous.

14. Does anyone in that whole affair look good?
Savage is an immature, probably drunken, brat whining that he has to pay the consequences of his actions. That friggin' idiot who called him is a leech, and worse; notice that he admits he's gay, then claims he likes Savage. Two servings of self-hatred for him. And MSNBC fires Savage for doing exactly what they hired him to do-- going over the top and getting attention.

Damn, it's funny, in a pathetic "Gosh are there any conservatives with any maturity or an IQ over that of my half-empty coke can?" sort of way.

Oh yeah, and Savage is not only drunk, but a liar, too. He doesn't know he's on the air? Then why's he say he's going to his next caller? How does someone do a tv show and not know how to watch the little light that says "On Air?" Where does he think he went if he wasn't on air? They don't just turn the tv off, they go to commercial, and they tell him they are going to commercial. He's a liar. But he's conservative, so that's redundant.

someone calls to disagree and he is a prank caller? Savage Weiner tells someone to get AIDS and die and he apologizes for "inadvertantly" insulting people...... how the heck do you inadvertantly insult someone by telling them to get AIDS and die?

17. This bigoted idiot knew exactly what he was doing
Insulting any ethnic group, nationality, sexual persuasion or political cause in the crudest possible way is his ``thing.'' He's used to getting away with absolutely anything. He's just mad as hell that somebody, finally, called him on something.

MSNBC knew exactly what they were doing when they hired him. He does the same thing on his radio show, so it was no big secret that he was a pompous, bigoted a**hole. I guess that they finally could no longer stand the heat. There have been campaigns to get this guy off the air for weeks. Several big sponsors, like Kraft, have pulled out in response to public pressure. I don't think MSNBC finally found a conscience; I think it was a matter of finances.

I'm just glad he's off the small screen, whatever the reason. Now, if we could just get him off the airwaves altogether!:grr:

True satisfaction will come when I'm walking around SF and run into him, slouched and filthy, with a cup in his hand begging for spare change. I'll put a $100 bill in his cup and tell him that this from a gay-lovin' pro-immigration pinko liberal... and that I forgive him.

23. MSNBC needs to feel the heat
from this. They hired the man, knowing full well what he is: a hate-talker who spews poison. What kind of a legitimate "news" organization hires a person who would even contemplate saying something so heinous? MSNBC promoted his show and gave him a huge forum for his filth. I hope MSNBC suffers financially...that's all they understand anyway.

27. I'M A VERY FORGIVING PERSON
and I can imagine saying something I didn't mean or that I did mean but I regret saying. We have all done that. But for the life of me, I CANNOT imagine, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, EVER saying anything as utterly ugly, hateful and as DISGUSTING as what Mr. Savage said. Therefore, I feel quite comfortable saying Mr. Savage can F*** HIMSELF.

28. There are those I really dislike
O'Reilly and Scarborough come to mind. But there are times I will catch what they're saying, just to keep up with this stuff. Savage/Weiner, whatever he's calling himself, is in an entire separate catagory, however. He is just so venomous and filled with hate towards pretty much everyone that's not exactly like himself that I just can't stomach the man. I was asked to take part in various e-mail ``actions'' to get him off the air, but I only participated in those where the e-mail was already written for me. I just couldn't stand to watch him long enough to pick up examples of his hatemongering to cite.
