Saudi, U.S., Cross Swords on High Gasoline Price
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=9&u=/nm/20040427/pl_nm/energy_saudi_usa_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Top energy officials from Saudi Arabia and the United States sharply disagreed Monday over what has pushed U.S. gasoline prices to record levels.

Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi pinned the blame on the "balkanized gasoline markets" in the United States, while Kyle McSlarrow, the deputy U.S. energy secretary, insisted the cause is high crude oil prices.

<snip>

I found this quite interesting. Saudi Arabia is actually going to build us some refineries here eh? I have a feeling Bush's buddies won't care for that idea.

High crude prices aren't to blame. Considering the dollar has lost 50% of it's value in the last year or so, it's not surprising that oil prices have skyrocketed. Relative to the euro, oil prices are probably virtually unchanged.

3. This is like Kabuki theater
bushco and the sultans will act all mad so it seems that they're not colluding with each other, people will forget about Bob Woodward's book and then, low and behold, at the beginning of October gas prices will drop markedly and * will tout it in his stump speeches. These guys have smoke and mirrors down to an art form.....
