Islamic Group Tied to Al Quaeda is Linked to Jakarta Attack
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/08/06/international/asia/06CND-INDO.html?hp

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Aug. 6 — The terror attack at the J. W. Marriott Hotel that killed at least 16 people and wounded 150 on Tuesday was almost certainly the work of Jemaah Islamiyah, a group that is closely linked to Al Qaeda, American officials said today.

Most of the senior members of Jemaah Islamiyah, including its top operations officer and its most skilled bombmakers, were still at large even though about 50 members of the group have been arrested since the attack on a Bali nightclub 10 months ago, they said.

Where oh where is Osama bin Forgotten? Never mind, we're looking for Saddam...

1. DJ Pentagon Had Info On Possible Indonesia Terror Attack
I’m a bit surprised this item relating to the attack, is not on the wires yet

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Pentagon officials in the last two or three weeks
received information of a possible terrorist attack in Indonesia, although it
didn't have specific details on a time or place, Cable News Network reported
Wednesday.
According to CNN, the Defense Intelligence Agency updated its own classified
warning of terrorist threats to military commanders after receiving "guidance"
from Indonesian authorities.

CNN reported that while officials had every reason to believe the possibility
of a terrorist attack in Indonesia was imminent, it wasn't feasible to protect
every commercial location without specific details on the timing and location of
an attack.
The U.S. State Department, meanwhile, chose not to update its travel warnings
on Indonesia because it already had extensive warnings in place about traveling
there, according to CNN.
Sources also told CNN that information continues to come in suggesting more
terrorist attacks are being planned in Indonesia.

You put that line in just to ellicit a response, didn't you? There is no terrorism unless it happens in the US or to an American. The rest of the planet does not exist for most of the momo's in this country. Hey, when you have a *president who couldn't locate Indonesia on a map, it's cool to be stupid.

6. A US delegation was going to be staying in that hotel
Edited on Wed Aug-06-03 05:48 PM by htuttle
But they apparently cancelled their reservations 4.5 hours before the blast.

This was in LBN a few days ago (yesterday?), but the original source article was in Indonesian.

Here's another that says the Indonesian police were aware of some sort of attack planned on the Marriot:

Further in this article, it says that several western embassies were warning about another attack.

7. It’s apparent that US intel has been pretty darn good….
From knowing when to cancel to opting to fly private vs. commercial. I guess it’s just how it’s used at times that can be troubling. Who benefits and who doesn’t, commercial interests, etc.

4. The Bush family is also tied to Al Qaeda...
Business partners with the Bin Ladens.

Give me a few minutes and I can prove that my cat is tied to Al Qaeda.

Maybe it would be easier for the corporate media to tell us who Isn't tied to Al Qaeda.

Of course the link between Osama and Bush is much, much closer than Osama and my cat. The corporate media would never make that distinction though.

Nor would they connect the Bush family to Osama.

My cat on the other hand.........
