Berg killer behind car blast
BAGHDAD - The most-wanted terror thug in Iraq claimed responsibility yesterday for an early-morning car bomb attack that wounded a senior security minister and killed at least five people, including four cops.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the terrorist who beheaded American Nick Berg, said the attack was carried out by a "heroic martyr" of the "death battalion." He warned Iraqis against helping the U.S.

....snip

Al-Zarqawi's statement said the attacks would not stop, and it boasted he is "crushing the morale of enemy troops" in Iraq.

He said the bomber came from Syria, bolstering U.S. claims that foreign fighters are fueling attacks in Iraq. His group claimed credit for killing Iraqi Governing Council head Izzadine Saleem last week.

...more

I didn't see where this had been posted. I notice that there is no direct quotes of al-Zarqawi claiming Nick Berg's murder. Additionally, I found it odd that he pointed out the Syria bomber. The terrorists sure do like playing into *s hand.

2. Funny how with all this talk about al-Zarqawi
you never hear about how Chimpy had the chance to kill this guy.

You never hear about why he chose to let the chance slip by because having al-Zarqawi in Iraq bolstered his plans for war!

Damn shame that so many people in this country have no idea what they don't know.

3. Strictly a propaganda machine.
So much disinformation.

It presents his guilt in the Berq case as certain, despite the flimsiest of evidence - the terrorist who beheaded American Nick Berg- no qualification, just fact (some unnamed person at the FBI said his voice sounded like al-Zarqawi's).

How can we be certain it was al-Zorro? a statement posted on an Islamist Web site.

No website name, no indication of where the message originated, no proof whatsoever that it was done by the evil one. But the NY Daily News knows that few of their readers will even question the conclusions. So easy to be a propagandist in this age.

His evil-doing always comes when things are hottest for the administration. Almost like Al-Z's only purpose in life is to take the heat off the Bush administration. And now bringing Syria in again. Do Bush and the neo-cons have a better friend on earth at the moment?

Soon no one will be reading media like the NY Daily Post. Soon everyone will know that they are simply purveyors of propaganda. Thank God for the Internet.

9. Oh and what about that CIA report that had him
missing a leg and then later DEAD!

My god this man is not only everywhere he's freakin' invincible!!

One of the things I am most thankful for right now is DU! I cannot imagine not having the wealth of info that is on this site. I have told as many people as I can about this site. I shudder to even think about the days when I was in the herd with the rest of the sheep in this country.

12. I agree. I've learnt so much here in such a short time.
Not just about what's happening now, but the background to many of the issues, so many things I just wasn't aware of before coming here. Very helpful. I wish I could get at some of the old threads though.

Zaraqawi: "No it isn't, it's only a flesh wound."

5. How convienant...
they can wrap up the Berg killing, the roadside bomb, AND the wedding (since they've claimed they were Syrian fighters all along) in one swell swoop.

Meanwhile, the failure to find the old bogeyman, bin Laden, is but a distant memory.

He's omni-present, omni-potent, can rise from the dead, and has grown a new leg!

On edit: Oh, I forgot, he's invisible as well.

10. We're still looking for evidence that bin Laden...
...'planned' 9-11. Now the Bushies tell us HE is no longer important and it's on to another phantom terrorist that nobody in this government seems able to capture. Golly, gee...it's almost to this administration's BENEFIT to keep these guys alive and planning more terrorism against the Empire.

- Did one-legged al-Zarqawi kill Berg? Did bin Laden plan 9-11 from a cave? No one should ever underestimate the naivete' of the American people.

Oh wait they probably already have! One would think they'd find a new guy to blame... just to spread it around a little bit over there. Aren't they worried they are gonna look like a bunch a wimps letting this guy fuck up everything over there???
