Mexico to reopen border to some beef

Mexico is partly reopening its border to certain cuts of Canadian beef, mirroring a move by the United States last week.

Lisette Lopez, the minister for agricultural issues for Mexico's embassy in Canada, told CBC Newsworld Monday afternoon that the country will allow certain exports - the same six cuts of meat the U.S. has deemed as safe - back into their country. The Globe's Steven Chase reported earlier in the day that the annoucement from Mexican officials was coming.

"Our main partner is the U.S.," Ms. Lopez said. "The decision that we take is going to be parallel to the U.S. We are working with them, as well as with Canada."
