Woman, man shot dead outside Campbells Creek, Cedar Grove gas stations
By Paul Wilson
Staff Writer

Two people were killed late Thursday in separate shootings outside Kanawha County convenience stores, in what police said could be related random shootings.

The two became the second and third people shot dead outside Kanawha Valley convenience stores within four days, and the third and fourth people murdered in Kanawha County on a bloody Thursday.

Thursday night, a woman was gunned down while pumping gas at a Campbells Creek convenience store about 10:20 p.m., while another person was shot slightly more than an hour later outside a Cedar Grove store. Both were killed.

<snip>

Late Thursday, police across the Valley were alerted to increase patrols around stores with gas pumps. Police were alerted to look for a black pickup truck with gold trim seen leaving the Cedar Grove store and a dark-green or blue Chevrolet Corsica from the Campbells Creek shooting.

4. Was WV hit by the blackout?
Or this could be some kind of copycat thing. We'll have to wait and see.

14. John Mohammed and Malvo
were probably following Osama's exhortation for all Muslims to carry out a "Jihad" against the US.

Wonder if this is the same thing?

23. My opinion of John Mohammed
is that his exwife and kids live in that area and he was working his way to kill her. She would of looked like another victim of the DC Snipers, and John would of gotten his kids. Of course this is only a theory.

7. Precisely right
Violence is the American way--and the serving up of it in our "news" as if it were not is a most effective form of social control.

8. What's up with the "sniper" tag?
Suddenly, anybody shot form over 10 feet away is a "sniper victim"...

It's fear-mongering, plain and simple.

16. I thought the same too regarding the blackout.
It happened in several states in the US and parts of Canada. But all you heard on the news was about New York City.

Why?

17. um...
That's because about a quarter of the people affected by it were in the City.

What, we're supposed to care that Bristol, Conn. went without power for a while?

We're NY, we always come first - as it should be.

Edited on Fri Aug-15-03 06:10 PM by donco6
. . . it's awful easy to shoot the camera out the window - no driving to Bristol!

Hope you've got your power back, regardless! Can't imagine being in the City in August with no AC. Ugh.

Oh, duh, on edit, realized that you MUST have power or we wouldn't be reading from you.

36. I see the key word in your sentence to be
"inconvenienced". For the most part, that's what a blackout is. (I'm not talking about electricity shortages on a scale of what's happening in Iraq. That is not inconvenience.)

The blackout was a major inconvenience, but it wasn't some kind of disaster. More $ damage than anything else. I guess that's why we hear so much about it. The corporations lost money.

If the victims had been in posession of their own M3K6-98 sniper rifles with auto front loading twin X ammo and laser sighting gigasnatch recoiless snap front stock, none of this would have happened.

33. Single Shooter Could Be to Blame in Three Convenience Store Killings in W.
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGA19ASQEJD.html

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Three people have been shot to death outside convenience stores in and around West Virginia's capital in the past week, and authorities said Friday that a single shooter might be responsible.
"We are now investigating into what could be a possible serial-type murder," said Kanawha County Sheriff Dave Tucker.

Kanawha County Chief Deputy Phil Morris said he was concerned that the Charleston shootings resembled last year's sniper shootings in the Washington, D.C., area. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives joined state and local authorities in the hunt for the shooter.

In the West Virginia slayings, two victims were shot in the head and another was hit in the neck, Tucker said. The shooter was more than 30 yards away from all three, officials said, and they believe a rifle was used in the attacks.
