Dozens Charged In Push Against Spam And Scams
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/25/technology/25spam.html

Federal and state law enforcement agencies have quietly arrested or charged dozens of people with crimes related to junk e-mail, identity theft and other online scams in recent weeks, according to several people involved in the actions.

The cases, which have been brought by law enforcement offices around the country, are expected to be announced by Attorney General John Ashcroft in a news conference in Washington on Thursday....

I guess Ashcroft must be trying to clean up his karma by doing at least one non-evil thing before the election.

2. Hey Hawkeye-X
The same dude from the email-abuse forum over on groups? Been lurking there for years and recognize the name.

DMA are completely pro-SPAMmers (as is the so-called Can SPAM law). F**ckers have been filling up all my e-mail accounts for years.

Ah well, a few arrests is better than nothing.

3. The one and the same.
I still have occasional contacts with the fellow anti-spammers. One of my email accounts is controlled by a well-known anti-spammer.

4. How do I get involved in the anti-spam group....
I would say about 80% of the emails I get are spam and I'm tired of it. I cannot put enough filters on my computer it seems. Also, I have been a victim of ID theft; it took me 4 years to get it straightened out. Someone with my name (believe it or not) went to the Social Security Office here in Orlando and said that she lost her SS card and they issued her a new one! She didn't even have to show them anything.
