Zell Kicked Out of Presidential Box
DNC PRESS RELEASE

New York City - Tonight, NBC reported that a senior Bush Campaign adviser had said that Zell Miller spoke not for the party but rather for himself when he delivered his growling keynote attack last night. Then it was reported that Zell Miller, who was previously on the list of guests sitting in the President's box during the Convention, was no longer on the list.

DNC Convention Response Team Spokesman Matt Bennett said in a statement:

"Hmmm. What a difference a day of witheringly bad reviews – and a challenge to a duel – can make." Bennett continued: "Is this a zig or a zag? Either way, the Republicans are fleeing from the storm caused by their keynote speaker."

Miller Spoke For Himself...
"Some Republicans thought Miller's remarks went too far. One senior Bush campaign aide today told NBC news, 'Senator Miller spoke on behalf of himself.'"

...Is Not Exactly the Same Message We Had Seen Before:

"I'm sure glad Zell Miller's on our side." - Dick Cheney

'He will give them the message that it's perfectly acceptable and respectable to vote for Bush,' said Charles Black, a Republican strategist with close ties to the White House."

50. Uhhh...not really. I was watching interviews with Orrin Hatch, Delay, etc
every one of them said they though Miller's speech was outstanding. They said he said exactly the right things and were happy for what he said. This was AFTER the Hardball incident, which basically got no press except for Olbermann's show.

Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 09:42 PM by Sugarbleus
convention, you will see a total flip flop, zig zag, on every issue. This party is ALL OVER THE MAP. They don't agree with each other MORE than WE don't agree with each other. It's insane.

I've been watching C-span Washington Journal... the guests they've had, from the RIGHT, kept shooting the "platform" rhetoric in the proverbial foot--by holding to completely different ideals than the previous RW guests...

22. Man did they screw up
Now I'm starting to wonder if old Zell didn't just put the screws to these ol' boys.

I know it sounds insane but there is no way that the Pukes ever expected him to go postal during the "Keynote Address". This was defiantly NOT their agenda. That whole deal last night was just a little too screwy to have been the game plan. He made a gigantic ass of the Republican Party in front of the entire nation. It's not just the he came off as insane, he also made them look totally nuts for having him there.

34. Come on now. The speech was vetted. The Repukes wanted him
to do the dirty work. The vitriolic outburst was red meat for the hate mongers in the base. Now * can look "moderate" in comparison, but they managed to get their hate message out. They used Zell like toilet paper and then flushed. :hurts:. It was just like the Slime Boat liars. * gets the bounce while looking as if he is above it all.

I really dont know what the motivation is to be a Bush henchman but its something that has been happening over and over..Now Zell got dirty for Bush, Bush does not want the stink to be near him. Rove/Bush Poltics at its most basic folks..
I dont feel sorry for Zell. Now he has nothing. He betrayed his party and the GOP are distancing themselves from him. He should have known this would happen but went ahead anyway.
Bye Zell and never forget you did it to yourself. No self respecting Democrat wants anything to do with you and the GOP used you then kicked you to the curb
Bye!

email and push him out on stage to read it. They even supply him with a fact sheet in case somebody asks him. He is such a rube cracker that he goes along with it because they actually have him believing that they will take care of him and his inbred family later on financially. He does the speech and then goes nuts on the interviews afterwords and we never see his sorry ass again.

This was indeed real spicy entertainment. I still can't keep from laughing, the picture in my mind of this man Zell and his words just won't go away. Just when I thought I couldn't laugh anymore, Zell comes out with a declaration of having a dual if the present day law would permit. I'll never forget the look on his face when he made that statement.

52. I think they're going to be hiding Zell - He went off on another reporter
Yesterday, the firebrand Miller - who is brazenly defying his political party to support George W. Bush - fell silent when I asked him if he's still mad at Matthews.

"I'm thinking about how to answer that," the senator said as he rushed around the floor of Madison Square Garden giving television interviews, at one point angrily ripping into a television reporter who accidently jostled a Miller admirer.
In due course, Miller told me: "I think it was an uncalled-for discourse. I found it pretty obnoxious, as when he attacked Michelle Malkin so unfairly. That's all I have to say about that."
