Some of Australia's leading doctors have signed a joint statement condemning the Howard government for taking the nation to war in Iraq.
The statement, signed by 54 doctors and medical specialists from around the country, said they were deeply disturbed by the war.
"The war is causing horrific injuries and loss of life to Iraq's people, particularly children," the statement said.
"It has destroyed essential infrastructure, including the health system."

One of the signatories, University of Sydney School of Health head, Professor Bruce Armstrong said today there was little evidence the Government had done anything to address health issues in Iraq.
