Rumsfeld: U-S winning in Iraq
http://www.fox21.com/Global/story.asp?S=2268402

PENTAGON Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld says the U-S and its allies are winning in Iraq.

In a Pentagon briefing, Rumsfeld said rebels "have underestimated" the U-S, its allies and "certainly our commander in chief."He says the violence flaring in Iraq is the work of "a combination of terrorists, former regime elements and criminals."Yesterday, a car bomb killed seven U-S Marines and three Iraqi soldiers. That's the most deadly attack on American troops in four months.Today, the military said attacks in and around Baghdad killed several more American soldiers since yesterday -- bringing the number of U-S dead in the Iraq war to nearly a-thousand.

2. We're not even seven days into September
and already there've been 22 casualties, bringing the total up to 1,000.

Are we winning the contempt of all nations maybe?

5. I think it's in the process of moving from contempt...
...to ridicule.

Know any good 'American jokes'?

13. Exactly! Every soldier we lose over there, is one less
that we lose over here. (Since we can fight them in Iraq or on our land . . . by process of administration logic, very soldier e lose over there, is . . . etc.)

Around Tikrit and Baghdad if I recall.

16. The Unknown

The Unknown

As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we donÕt know
We donÕt know.

25. Yes. North, South, East and West of Tikrit
Every now and then Jon Stewart re-plays that clip, since the "media" won't ever do anything to show the incompetence and criminal behavior of the junta

18. The Neo Fascists are winning.
Rumsfailed Admitted to Violating Geneva Convention

Rumsfailed admitted in public that when CIA Director Tenet requested that an Irai prisoner be sent to a secret Afghan/US Prison that Rumsfailed did so. After four months a DOD Attorney stated that this was an illegal act. Rumsfailed then ordered that this prisoner be sent back to Abu Graib but the prisoner was not listed at that location. That is two violations of the Geneva Convention. Tenet and Rumsfailed violated the Geneva convention, thereby also The Constitution of the USA. Not one complaint or charge was made regarding Rumsfailed and Tenet, not even by any Dem in Congress.

Does the US no longer follow the Geneva Convention or the Constitution of the USA?

It appears so.

20. Nice hypothesis Rummy. Who understimated who?
Rumsfeld said rebels "have underestimated" the U-S, its allies and "certainly our commander in chief."

Seems to me it is Rummy and Bush who did the underestimating.

21. Yes, the Iraqi insurgents *have* underestimated the "commander-in-chief"
Yes, the Iraqi insurgents *have* certainly underestimated Boosh, the "commander-in-chief." They clearly miscalculated just how greedy, heartless and soulless the bastard truly is.

I just *love* hearing Cheney's lackeys frame the Iraq fight as a noble struggle by George Bush against the forces of evil. I'm sorry, but Georgie isn't risking an effin' thing in Iraq, other than the lives of innocents on either side of the fight.

22. B-b-but I thought we already won in Iraq!!!
It's the same garbage they pull with the economy. Every giant slide backward goes unnoticed, every teeny tiny baby step forward is hailed as a sign of success.

They act like it's a big deal that Fallujah was secured two weeks ago, or whenever that standoff ended, but, hey, weren't we supposed to have won all the battles in May 2003 (or whenever that carrier landing was).....

Here's a quick summary of the last four years: 2 steps backward, one step forward.

George Bush: building that bridge to the 18th century.

Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 03:58 PM by Jacobin
Oh, wait, he's still alive and has done a mea culpa for his role in killing 3 million Vietnamese and 55,000 Americans, as he approaches the Pearly Gates.

Rumsfucked knows he's damned, and he'll never change. Beezlebub is worried that when Rumsfucked gets to Hades that he'll try to take over.

28. Our Commander-in-Chief has two accomplishments to date:
He has improved the economy ( of India and China)
He has won the war on Iraq when he said he was going to fight Bin Laden.

We certainly misunderestimated him.He is a legend in his own mind.
