Smart endorses Rep. Martin Frost (Elizabeth Smart's Republican Dad)
DALLAS - The father of kidnapped Utah teenager Elizabeth Smart endorsed Rep. Martin Frost on Friday, saying he supports the Democrat's efforts involving child welfare.

Ed Smart said Frost, of Dallas, should be re-elected for advocating a federal Amber Alert system which broadcasts emergency messages in the event of a suspected child abduction.

"This man here made it happen," Smart, a Republican, said in a story for Saturday's editions of The Dallas Morning News. "He's someone who's responsive, who's dedicated to the betterment of our society."

Amber Alerts were named after an Arlington girl who was kidnapped and murdered in 1996. Smart's daughter was found alive and safe by authorities after nine months in captivity.

1. Frost should be elected even if he were running against a decent
Republican. We really must see him right back where he's needed. He's too good to lose. Exemplary.

2. Who the hell cares what Mr. Smart in Utah thinks
Screw him and his publicity grab.

Frost should say something like, "I don't particularly relish the endorsement of someone who makes a mint off their child's abduction."

5. I about fell off my chair!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy (Smart) is a DEVOUT Mormon. They deviate from the party line at grave risk to their souls. I predict he will be promptly excommunicated...........

6. I Volunteer Weekly For The Frost Campaign - He Is A Very Good Rep.
His opponent is the worst that the Republicans have to offer.

In a recent debate (last Sunday) he said that "the United Nations is anti-semitic" and should be abolished.

The republican, Pete Sessions, needs to go down!

7. Mormons are not required to vote Republican (cmon!)
Harry Reid(D)-Nevada (Senator) is a devout LDS and there are others that are Democrats among them, the Udalls, Jim Matheson(D)-Utah, house rep and the gubernatorial candidate in Utah, Scott Matheson, Jr.

Most Mormons are Republicans, that's true, but they don't excommunicate people who vote or run in the other party. They do excommunicate people who are feminists and so forth and there were purges at Brigham Young University a while back where they lost a lot of good faculty because they got rid of many progressives.

9. I volunteered for his campaign in the late 80's when I lived in the area.
I think his district then was largely Oak Cliff.

But I no longer live in the state. Hasn't he been affected by last year's Republican gerrymander?
