Bush Warns of Worsening Violence in Iraq, Afghanistan
Sat Sep 18, 2004 10:22 AM ET

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (Reuters) - President Bush warned on Saturday that deadly guerrilla violence in Iraq and Afghanistan could worsen in the coming weeks as the two countries move toward national elections.

More than 200 Iraqis have been killed in recent days by bombings and other violence that have cast doubt on plans to hold elections in January.

Doubts also surround elections due Oct. 9 in Afghanistan, where U.S.-backed President Hamid Karzai survived an assassination attempt on Thursday.

"Never in the history of the United Nations have we faced so many opportunities to create a safer world by building a better world," Bush said in his radio address.

5. Well, he did create those opportunities, didn't he?
Make cluster-fuck of something, then try and look good by assembling the folks to clean up your mess, calling the cluster-fuck an "opportunity". Of course, it's not really "your" mess, as you take no accountability or responsibility, you're simply a victim of circumstance.

Shees, I once had a boss that must have graduated from the same school of thought as Shrub!

Who would have dreamed that Bush* could utter the words 'United Nations' and 'safer world' in the same sentence?

I think the time has come for this nation to start using the words we heard back in the sixtes - Credibility Gap!

When people are scared, they want an authority figure. And that's how many people see him--although in fact he is a moron and a war criminal.

this guy is insane, delusional and sick and someone ought to insist he be examined for mental illness.

This is insane. Insisting that, with the reports coming out daily over the hundreds that are being killed, we are making a "safer world" is bullshit bloviating and is distinctly grandiose and delusional.

According to Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, the insurgents are conducting their attacks for the sole purpose of influencing the US Election against President Bush!

Armitage believes that the insurgents are obsessed with US issues, when not being blown up, or shot at, or busying themselves in preparation for their children's funerals. I mean, who knew the insurgents were so interested in the lives of Americans half a world away? :eyes:

19. We HAD a chance to make this a safer world
After 9/11, with almost the entire world on our side, we could have create a world-wide effort to eradicate terrorism. Had we taken care of business in Afghanistan, fought the Al Qaeda forces in Tora Bora, and really got the world community involved in helping to rebuild that nation, we could be standing right now in a world where a modernized Afghanistan would be a symbol of hope. And the United States could truly have been a beacon and a leader in helping to create a safer world.

Instead, people are still getting blown to bits everywhere, we're stuck in a quagmire with no allies left, and we're looting resources away from the countries we've invaded, creating hatred and mistrust in the United States. We've dug ourselves a hole that will take decades to recover from.

20. OK: let's take a look at that sentence,
"Never in the history of the U.N. have we faced so many opportunities to create a safer world by building a better world".

Now I know his main speechwriter is Steven Hadley. He's really a great speechwriter, but this time I think even he went too far.

Notice how the visions are expanding all the time? They're getting grandioser by the minute. Before, it was install democracy in Iraq, next it was encourage freedom in the Middle East. Now: it's the world. Why not go for Freedom in the entire Universe next Saturday. I sense the sweeping, lofty gestures are really part of a crisis looming in the background. BeelzeBush's only claim for these past 4 years has been his "success" in Iraq, and even that is now getting flushed down the toilet.

Observation #1: What does the history of the UN have to do with anything? Why is that a particular milestone? How old is the UN, by the way?

Observation #2: Why are WE facing so many opportunities? Is there something written in the U.N. charter that I don't know about? Like, wherever there is an opportunity, we have to take it?

Observation #3: "create a safer world". And just how do you propose to do that, Mr. Lofty? Have we seen that so far in the Middle East? Or has there been an increase in violence?

Observation #4: The war in Iraq is costing us $4.9 billion dollars per month. It's bankrupting us financially. Now George wants us to go after more "opportunities". How much is that going to cost us?

34. 9/11 - Gov't Covering Up FACTS

April 8, 2004 - Condoleeza Rice before the 9/11 commission:
KEAN: I've got a question now I'd like to ask you. It was given to me by a number of members of the families.

Did you ever see or hear from the FBI, from the CIA, from any other intelligence agency, any memos or discussions or anything else between the time you got into office and 9/11 that talked about using planes as bombs?

RICE: Let me address this question because it has been on the table.

I think that concern about what I might have known or we might have known was provoked by some statements that I made in a press conference. I was in a press conference to try and describe the August 6th memo, which I've talked about here in my opening remarks and which I talked about with you in the private session.

And I said, at one point, that this was a historical memo, that it was -- it was not based on new threat information. And I said, "No one could have imagined them taking a plane, slamming it into the Pentagon' about the use of airplanes as weapons actually was never briefed to us.

I cannot tell you that there might not have been a report here or a report there that reached somebody in our midst.

Washington, D.C., Nov. 3, 2000 — The fire and smoke from the downed passenger aircraft billows from the Pentagon courtyard. Defense Protective Services Police seal the crash sight. Army medics, nurses and doctors scramble to organize aid. An Arlington Fire Department chief dispatches his equipment to the affected areas.

Don Abbott, of Command Emergency Response Training, walks over to the Pentagon and extinguishes the flames. The Pentagon was a model and the "plane crash" was a simulated one.
http://www.mdw.army.mil/news/Contingency_Planning.html

"An incredible coincidence..."

On the morning of September 11th 2001, Mr. Fulton and his team at the CIA were running a pre-planned simulation to explore the emergency response issues that would be created if a plane were to strike a building. Little did they know that the scenario would come true in a dramatic way that day.

Founded in 1997, the National Law Enforcement and Security Institute is a training and technology center serving public safety and private security professionals, citizens, and various segments of government, business and industry.

"It was just an incredible coincidence that this happened to involve an aircraft crashing into our facility," Haubold said. "As soon as the real world events began, we canceled the exercise."

Likewise, the major newsmedia virtually never mentioned this info. Yet, here it is, on UNIMPEACHABLE sites.

Are we to think war games taking place on 9/11 are somehow irrelevant to such an extent that that the 9/11 commission never even mentioned them? National Reconnaissance Office - mentioned on pages 103, 420, 425, 426, NONE haveing to do with planned plane crash by the CIA on 9/11.

Sorry, but that is a government cover-up, plain and simple. There is no other explanation. If you have one, I'd LOVE to hear it.

37. the info people forget and fail to take note of

http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2001/ofr-01-0429/thermal.r09.html

Dozens of hot spots were mapped. The hottest spots at the surface of the rubble, where abundant oxygen was available, showed a temperature of 1377° F (747° C). This is, however, less than half as hot at the molten steel in the basement.

Construction steel has an extremely high melting point of about 2,800° Fahrenheit (1535° Celsius). Kerosene-based jet fuel, paper, or the other combustibles normally found in the towers, cannot generate this much heat, especially in an oxygen-poor environment like a deep basement.

It should be noted that one of the few things capable of producing such extreme temperatures in these conditions is thermite, a chemical compound used in demolition explosives.

Damage in the lobby, 78 floors below where the plane just struck: http://st12.startlogic.com/~xenonpup/underground/lobby.mpg

Stanley Praimnath was on the 81st floor of the south tower:

The plane impacts. I try to get up and then I realize that I'm covered up to my shoulder in debris. And when I'm digging through under all this rubble, I can see the bottom wing starting to burn, and that wing is wedged 20 feet in my office doorway

Donovan Cowan was in an open elevator at the 78th floor sky-lobby:

We went into the elevator. As soon as I hit the button, that's when there was a big boom. We both got knocked down. I remember feeling this intense heat. The doors were still open. The heat lasted for maybe 15 to 20 seconds I guess. Then it stopped.

Ling Young was in her 78th floor office:

Only in my area were people alive, and the people alive were from my office. I figured that out later because I sat around in there for 10 or 15 minutes...

NIST Tests Provide Fire Resistance Data on
World Trade Center Floor Systems

The Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently reported that results from a series of four fire resistance tests conducted in August 2004 on composite concrete-steel trussed floor systems typical of those used in the World Trade Center (WTC) towers showed that the test structures were able to withstand standard fire conditions for between 45 minutes and two hours. http://www.nist.gov/public_affairs/releases/ULTestResults.pdf

Construction worker Phillip Morelli describes being thrown to the ground by two explosions while in the fourth subbasement of the North Tower. The first, which threw him to the ground and seemed to coincide with the plane crash, was followed by a larger blast that again threw him to the ground and this time blew out walls. He then made his way to the South Tower and was in the subbasement there when the second plane hit, again associated with a powerful underground blast. This is one of a series of interviews with WTC survivors done by NY1 News: http://ny1.com/pages/RRR/911special_survivors.html

An Iraqi man carries a wounded boy in a hospital in Fallujah following a US air strike. The US military said it conducted a "successful precision strike" on a meeting of about 10 "terrorists" working for Jordanian-born militant Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi.(AFP/Fares Dlimi)

48. I vote for the children,...as a "passionate compassionate".

I prioritize the interests of lives born,...rather than argue over what is "life".

I figure,...if we are so desperate as to deny our failures in taking care of ourselves and make shit up to justify killing those who were given NO CHOICE,...what right do any of us have to assert some superior moral position about a life we cannot predict. The "pro-life" position is EMPTY,...having NO consistency in depth or breadth.

If ya' want "black or white",...better be willing to stand in the shoes of those you condemn,...'cause,...you WILL get what you give,...come hither or thither.

"CHRISTIAN" my ass!!!! Incapable in coping with "humility" and "humanity" would be my guess: demonstrating how poop (human weakness) initially floats to the top,...but sinks to that which we run to wash off,...between our toes.

ON EDIT: ONLY FOOLS OR IDIOTS BELIEVE IN THEIR OWN BENEVOLENCE!!!!

Where has he BEEN for the last six months? Oh, yeah, I forgot, he's been out fighting hard against the "soft bigotry of low expectations" and pimping his other six phrases.

47. Watching this country lurch so far to the right
is dumbfounding.

If it weren't so serious, it would be a farce not worth watching.

What happened to mission accomplished? Was he lying to us all then or is he lying to us all now?
