Bush lashes out after debate loss (gotta love that headline)
America's increasingly bitter race for the White House hit a new low as the two candidates traded insults with each other in the aftermath of last week's first presidential debate.

John Kerry is seeking to capitalise on his widely perceived victory in the debate, while George W Bush is seeking to bounce back from a poor performance. Kerry's campaign appearances now include a parody of Bush as an Elmer Fudd-type character who cannot speak clearly on the issue of the Iraq war.

'He keeps trying to say, "Well, we're-not-we-don't-no-we-don't-you-know, we don't want somebody who wants to leave "', Kerry told a cheering audience at a rally in Florida.

Democrats are delighted at Kerry's performance in Thursday's Miami debate. Nearly all pundits and polls of viewers showed he had bested Bush in the 90-minute talk about foreign policy, dominated by Iraq. Bush appeared rattled and angry on several occasions. He mispronounced several words and phrases and even Republican spin doctors privately concede he was not at his best.

and that pig farm in Crawford is a phenomenon supposed to portend evil?

But that can't be true cuz Laura don't talk like Petunia,(sp) Porky's ho.

7. Has anyone seen this on video?
'Cause I'm having a hard time picturing John Kerry doing a cartoon character. Now Bush, I could believe, but did Kerry truly do an 'Elmer Fudd' voice??? The description sounds more like Porky Pig, since he's the one who stutters, but I can't see Kerry doing Porky, either. His voice is too deep. It sounds like Rove (Porky) has been on the horn again.

13. It's about time someone mocked him for the inarticulate twit he is!
Talk about emperor has no clothes syndrome. It's like everyone's been tiptoeing around and pretending that it really doesn't matter that the President of the most powerful nation in the world sounds like a mentally deficient schizophrenic. Or that it's charming or something. Talk about flip-flop--the man can't even keep track of what he's saying from one sentence to the next! And no one ever calls him on it! Good on John Kerry, and way to turn the "flip-flop" crap right back on * and then some. Best of all, as little as Bush can tolerate criticism, he cannot STAND to be made fun of. I think Kerry should taunt him till he snaps. It actually shouldn't take much. I think after all the coddling of the past few years, Bush was really starting to believe that Kerry was going to just lie down and grovel like everyone he surrounds himself with. He must be reeling with shock. *Nobody* talks to (or about) the Boy King that way. *Nobody.*

Where Bush talked about "I have climbed the mighty mountain"...

I would love to see back-to-back video of that:

28. Businessweek referred to Bush as Elmer Befuddled
But in Coral Gables, Fla., last night, Bush looked -- at least for the first half of the debate -- like Elmer Befuddled, a commander-in-chief not in command. :D

Perhaps what was so unnerving was that Bush found himself in a foreign-policy debate with a seasoned politician who was espousing the same sort of measured, internationalist approach to a dangerous world that was the hallmark of his father's Presidency. Debating the security and future of the nation on live national television isn't easy -- but debating your Dad is downright scary.

35. Re: "debating your Dad is downright scary"
An excellent point, Business Week. I thought that Kerry throwing a quote from Bush 1 in Shrub's face was absolutely brilliant. Bush's feelings about his father are obviously complex and conflicted. In a drunken rage he once publicly challenged his old man to a fist fight, and the Iraq war is clearly an attempt to both surpass his father and show his love for his father (remember, Shrub once told a crowd "Saddam tried to kill my Daddy").

29. Not just for public consumption
it is to keep Bush and his prop men hopping mad and rattled. Bush is capable of collapsing even more and this is just not mere meanness or crowd pleasing on Kerry's part.

Also keeps the shamefully(or politely) ignored issue of Bush's personal deficiencies on the front burner where they belong- not those vacuous ideas and empty promises B/C headlines.

Love to be a fly on the wall, Karen and Rove totally ticked with the debate, Laura and the twins ticked with the leash statement, and Babs ticked that Kerry mentioned Shrub's daddy.... don't think that was a happy household this weekend and Kerry ahead in the polls. Did Shrub fall over the weekend, any new bruises?
Wow!!!
