Bombardier to cut 2,000 jobs

By TERRY WEBER
Globe and Mail Update

Bombardier Inc.'s aerospace unit said Thursday it will cut 2,000 jobs at its Montreal and Belfast sites over the next nine months and warned that another 1,200 positions could go as a major customer continues to face "unprecedented financial challenges."

Bombardier Aerospace said about 560 jobs will be cut in Belfast, while 1,130 will be eliminated at its Dorval, Mirabel and Saint-Laurent facilities. Another 310 positions will be cut at other locations.

Bombardier Aerospace employs about 27,100 workers in total.
