It's another devastating hit to the economy of the East. There will be more pink slips for workers in Kinston -- an area that has already suffered economically.

The Unifi plant in Kinston is yet another textile plant in North Carolina to downsize. Employees say they're not surprised by the news that nearly 500 of them will lose their jobs, but that doesn't make it any easier for them.

Wednesday it was another day on the job at Unifi. But soon there will be hundreds fewer employees walking through the doors.

Unifi, which is one of the world's largest producers and processors of textured yarns, announced Tuesday it will lay off 490 people.
