Frist says colleagues' shots were within guidelines
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says those on Capitol Hill who got flu shots in his office were either following federal guidelines or their own doctors' recommendations.

Frist -- who is also a physician -- responded today to criticism that his office was used as a makeshift clinic to administer shots to colleagues two days after the federal government asked healthy adults to forgo the vaccinations because of a shortage of doses. Frist says he got his own inoculation "days" before the guidelines were announced Oct. 5.

Frist also noted one-third of Senate members are 65 or over, which is within the guidelines for getting the flu shots.

5. Where can we find out which members of Congress got their flu shot?
These Chicken sh-ts should be ashamed of themselves for not giving their shots to seniors and unhealthy people.

7. I agree
I usually get a flu shot but I won't even attempt it this year - it would bother me to wonder if a child or elderly person didn't get theirs because I got mine. Frist is a typical greedy, selfish republican.

All Top-Priority Troops to Get Flu Shots

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon (news - web sites) has received less than one-third of the vaccine it needs, but officials say they are working on a deal for more doses and pledge that all U.S. troops abroad, plus those preparing to go overseas, will get flu shots this fall.

Flu shots usually are mandatory for troops, as a matter of Pentagon policy, but not for the thousands of military dependents and military retirees who are entitled to Pentagon health benefits.

Immunization of troops abroad, particularly those in war zones like Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites) or potential areas of conflict like Korea, is a high priority because the soldiers' loss to illness would hurt military readiness.

Normally all troops are required to get vaccinated. Those not deployed abroad, however, are a lower priority, so few of them will get flu shots this year, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.

13. They're SO rattled over this. Frist blames it all on "trial lawyers" lol
right on message:

He claimed the presidential campaign of Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) is blowing the issue out of proportion for "political gain" and suggested trial lawyers, like Kerry's running mate John Edwards (news - web sites), contributed to the shortage with lawsuits against vaccination makers.
