'Step # 1: Whenever possible, blame the news media'
Good read from the Philadelphia Inquirer on the Newsweek fiasco:

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/editorial/11671514.htm

<snip>So, why the focus on the Newsweek story? It's part of the tried-and-true strategy to demonize, disguise and divert: Demonize the news media to disguise the real causes of the resistance and divert attention from failed U.S. policies.

1. Ari Fliescher's public intimidating of Newsweek's freedom of speech telling.
Edited on Wed May-18-05 08:56 AM by Sparkman
The Bushites are censoring the news media via public and private intimidation, which is propaganda 101. This sophomoric exhibition of EXACTLY WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SAYING...OUR MEDIA IS COWERING AND SELF CENSORING, OUT-N-OUT FEARFULLY OF THESE REPRISALS! Thanks Scott McClellan, for providing the paradigm of the U.S. governmental censorship.

2. I can't wait till the media tuns on Bushco
If they can grow some b_lls and fight against being the scapegoat, then Bushco will find themselves with a lot of explaining to do.

3. And the media has been good friends with Bush for years
For the most part the media hasn't been tough on Bush. From the embedded reporters to WMD to even Kerry's war record being more scruntinized than Bush's the media has been a bit of a lap dog. But this administration still views the media as their enemy.

6. Another Link to it, with a better headline: "The Media Ate My Homework"
http://www.workingforchange.com/printitem.cfm?itemid=19070

Also doesn't require registration.

This is what the left should throw back at them every time they blame the media:
"WAH! WAH!! WAH!!! 'The media ate my homework!' Why don't you people ever take responsibility for your actions?!"
