US ruling vindicates Labor: Beazley
OPPOSITION Leader Kim Beazley today called on Prime Minister John Howard to pressure the US to try Australian terrorist suspect David Hicks in a US civil court.

(snip)
"The Howard Government must now go to the United States, as Tony Blair did, and say to the US: 'Look, the bloke may well have committed crimes, we don't know, but you ought to try him, you must try him ... in a US civil court'," Mr Beazley said.

"US civil court processes are among the best in the world and that is where justice may be obtained and that is where the US should try him."

(snip)
"The US Supreme Court has obviously made a determination much along the lines of what we've been arguing," he told ABC radio.
