It's Got to Be Gore: Part I– The Challenge Facing the Next President

by Andrew Bard Schmookler

These have not been normal times in America. Under this Bushite regime, the soul of our country has been in danger like never before in its history.

Accordingly, in the now-beginning quest for new leadership here in America, the stakes are equally extraordinary. America must be reclaimed from these evil forces. The American people need to understand the meaning of this dark episode we've been passing through. And the damage inflicted on this country, and on the world, by these dark forces must be repaired.

America needs for the next president:

** To bring the best possible resolution of the mess the Bushites have created in Iraq.

** To refortify the Constitution which has been under assault from these Bushites-getting rid of unconstitutional laws, like the Military Commissions Act, and re-establishing a reasonable agreement about the checks and balances that establish the boundaries of the separation of powers.

** To reverse the corporate takeover of the federal government of the United States-- a takeover which this Bushite regime advanced by a whole order of magnitude.

** To reconfirm America's commitment to a respect for genuine knowledge, affirming our respect for the ferreting out of the truth through honest inquiry.

** To make the United States a leader, and not a pariah as this administration has made it, in the global process of creating an environmentally sustainable civilization, on that does not create destructive upheavals --such as climate change-- that shake the foundations of the biosphere.

** To rededicate ourselves to the value of honesty in the relationship between leaders and led, recognizing how fundamental has been the betrayal of American democracy by this group of Bushite leaders who have worked assiduously to deceive the people and have embraced no commitment to an honest mutuality between government and people.

** To bring Americans of good will together, rather than work deliberately to drive them apart, as these Bushites continuously have.

**To make America trusted and appreciated by other countries in the world, and not held as these Bushites are with a combination of contempt and fear.

4. I believe this column is hitting on some essential truths
as to how we as a nation can find our way back to our fundamental Constitutional principles for which so much blood and tears had been shed by our ancestors, only to have it trashed by the bushite neocons. I believe we as a nation should support family values and the Constitution is our national family's most valuable possession, we need to do all in our power to stop those who would turn it in to toilet paper.

Thanks for the thread tex-wyo-dem

5. No problem, Uncle Joe...
Might have to chalk this up to Karma, but I truely believe that it's Gore's destiny to be President now. I agree with all of the points the author makes, but most of all is Gore's stance and leadership on the evironment. Most scientists now believe that we have about a 10 year window to make the necessary and drastic changes that we and most of the world must make to have any hope of slowing down or stopping global climate change. I beleive that Gore is the best hope for this country and world.

6. I agree, I also believe
the trashing of the Constitution, the manipulation of the press, wars based on lies, the stifling of scientific views at odds with their own, and the ignoring of the impending catastrophe of global warming are all part of the same animal. It would be difficult to have one without the other, I believe this is what has inspired Al Gore to come out with his next book, "The Assault on Reason".

9. Can't solve the problem unless you recognize what it is
Very few Democrats can identify what is going wrong with our country. Al Gore is one of those very few. He may be the ONLY one of those few brave souls who is "electable."

11. I worry about all of our great citizens who want to serve us. I would
not want anything to happen to Al in a campaign as he literally might be the one person who can save the world. I read on DU today that Hillary had been threatened by some fool on Obama's web page, and that there was a rude comment about Obama too. The US is peopled by sociopaths and sickoos. Bush and his agenda have just emboldened them.

12. These points hit right home, and I agree with the logic that Al Gore's the man!
The two essential pieces, fixing global warming, and reversing the corporate takeover, are ESSENTIAL for the next president! We need to have public campaign financing put in place during the next president's term to fix the corporate takeover problem, which will help solve a lot of these other issues. So far, I feel someone like Al is the most likely to win and who will prioritize solving those two issues properly. I might changed the way I feel about Obama, but still have my skepticism on these issues with him that needs to be addressed.

Kicked and recommended!

Not time for on the job training.

Gore is the best person for the job.

And we need a non controversial ticket.
Not time to make social history.
