Grammy Ratings Bounce Back From 2006 Low
No one can say that Grammy Award organizers aren't quick learners when it comes to scheduling. This year they were rewarded for it.

An estimated 20.1 million people watched the Dixie Chicks' defiant night on the Grammy Awards Sunday, up 18 percent from last year for what used to be considered the music industry's biggest night on television, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Last year Grammy organizers decided to move the ceremony from its usual Sunday perch for a Wednesday opposite ''American Idol,'' and the awards show's audience of 17 million was its lowest ever.

This year the Grammys moved back to Sunday night. The show even gave a nod of respect to ''American Idol'' by holding a contest where an amateur singer had a spotlight duet with Justin Timberlake.

1. Well, I don't usually watch the Grammys but I watched the Chicks!
Bought their album as soon as it came out and have caught them in every venue I knew about since then. They are something else, that's for sure! They were on PBS's Austin City Limits awhile back. Hope country music stations get the message and start playing them soon. They are nothing short of amazing!

2. I haven't watched in YEARS. But I watched almost the . . .

3. I've boycotted the Grammys since I discovered their "Soul Gospel" category

I couldn't figure out why the gospel awards were going to whites. Somewhere along the line, the Grammys decided that "real" gospel is what whites made and "soul" gospel is a subspecies rather than the other way around. They couldn't even call it "traditional" gospel? Soul gospel is like Spanish salsa or Jewish klezmer!
