Iran - Ready to attack

American military operations for a major conventional war with Iran could be implemented any day. They extend far beyond targeting suspect WMD facilities and will enable President Bush to destroy Iran's military, political and economic infrastructure overnight using conventional weapons.

British military sources told the New Statesman, on condition of anonymity, that "the US military switched its whole focus to Iran" as soon as Saddam Hussein was kicked out of Baghdad. It continued this strategy, even though it had American infantry bogged down in fighting the insurgency in Iraq.

3. Okay -- the balloons are filled, the cake has been made; where are the guests?
We'll have a difficult time with Iranians without any troops.

4. Sounds like the "Iranians made the bombs" story from last Sunday
The one they had to change on Monday. Saying it looked like it could have been made in Iran but than a lot of people know how to make it...

7. Socialist roots
This is more of an editorial/commentary. Not really breaking news if you read the whole thing.

11. The Bushies are obviously on track to do this or how else can one
explain the aircraft carriers, etc sent to the region. However, this would be so foolhardy that it is hard to imagine even a dithering "moran" like George W. actually implementing such a debacle. If he does, impeachment must be instantaneous and he must know that. I guess we now understand where all the missing funds have gone. Let's see overnight; is that the equivalent of the "flowers and chocolates" that were supposed to be thrown at our "liberators" in Iraq?

12. If Iraq is any guide, this "precision" strike campaign is going to be a mess.
The war hawks are giddy over their new high-tech toys. However, smart bombs
are only as good as the intelligence that directs them. Iraq was a case study
on how not to do this. "Surgical" strikes at Baath Party leaders not only missed,
they killed large numbers of innocent people. Strikes against infrastructure
undermined later efforts to stabilize and rebuild the country. The Iran plan
described in the article looks like more of the same.

The nation-building geniuses at AEI are following the Iraq script very closely.
We have our exile congress along with another neocon darling, Reza Pahlavi.
It's going to be another cakewalk with young Iranians throwing flowers at our
troops, just like Iraq. :eyes:

British military sources told the New Statesman,
on condition of anonymity
....

http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0620-31.htm

wagging the dog never goes out of style

http://www.counterpunch.org/leupp02282005.html

I'm just saying, lets get these "experts" on the carpet already with this same old recycled fear mongering .

btw
When will this Iran invasion story be broken 'by the experts' as a failed Carl Rove plan ?

I might just have to save a few of these threads as a 2007 year in review lookback to go along with the curreent "undisclosed sources" close to the coconut telegraph office
