War with Iran: IEDs and o-i-l
http://local.lancasteronline.com/4/200791

...

A Feb. 8 story in the Los Angeles Times noted that the giant Mexican oil field Cantarell, second-largest in the world, may see a 15 percent drop in production this year. Within five years, production at the field could be down to half of what it was just three months ago; Mexico's overall crude output, now around 3 million barrels a day, could fall by a third.

Mexico is the second-biggest exporter of oil to the United States. What we're talking about, then, is a huge source of American oil crashing. How might we make that up?

This isn't to say that war with Iran would be the crude "blood for oil" invoked by anti-war protesters. This isn't about ExxonMobil greasing its slippery palms; this is about the commodity that serves as the foundation of our economy, the engine that drives American consumption, affluence and dominance. ...

We talk about weaning ourselves off of oil, and doing so would have huge environmental benefits and almost incalculable national security benefits. But because it would be detrimental to the economy, and require the type of sacrifice no one wants to make, we cannot do it; or rather, we can only do so gradually. And that long-term strategy requires eliminating any threat to American hegemony in the Middle East.

So if Our Leader is making things up about Iranian IEDs, as with the fiction surrounding Iraqi WMDs, he may see them as untruths in service of a greater good. For as he's said, we're fighting for our way of life.

Our way of life, I fear, makes war with Iran necessary.
