Why We Can’t all Get Along

There is a great deal of disunity in America today we are a polarized nation liberal conservative black white gay straight Christian Jew and Moslems. The reason is so is very simple the people in power like it that way it serves their interest. The major majority of Americans of any color or persuasion or political affiliation want what’s best for all Americans and this is the primary difference between Americans and their political leadership.

Try and understand this and throw away all party labels and all definitions because the fact is the political class in this country doesn’t give at rat’s ass about you! They don’t care whether you live or die whether your children go to college or go to Iraq or about protecting social security. Do you think George Bush or Dick Cheney care about the school children in Iraq? Then what makes you think they care about school children in Peoria? Do Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank care about outsourcing? It’s not even on their agenda.

Why are Sunni’s and Shiite’s killing each other in Iraq? Because it serves the interest of the United States of America to encourage them kill each other. In 1944 as the Russian army advanced through Poland the Polish underground rose up against the Nazis in Warsaw incorrectly thinking the Russians would help them the Russian advance promptly stopped for two weeks. Despite pleadings from Roosevelt and Churchill the allies were not allowed to use Russian airfields to drop supplies to the underground. It served Russian interests not to have a Polish underground they were better served by letting the Nazis kill them off then the Russians could pick a more cooperative leadership.

This is not new the CIA has used this same type of operation all over the planet. The Moslems and Kurds in Iraq have gotten along well until the introduction the US military into the country then as stability subsided the residents starting looking to religious leaders for security. With the rise of Al Sader and the Medi Army the CIA and military feared an Sunni Islamic fundamentalist movement so they arrested Al Sader but when riots broke out in the street it made them relent and they quickly released him. Then someone blew up the mosque of the golden dome, and who would do that? it was a shrine to both Sunnis and Shia’s whose interest were served? The Sunni’s? The Shia? Or the Americans.

The Mosque a Shia shrine is located in Sunni dominated Samara and up until that bombing where was the insurgency coming from? The Sunnis and after the bombing it became a civil war because US leadership wanted it that way. So if US government officials don’t care about Iraqis killing each other why should they care about you? After all who are you to them?

Pourus borders of course we have pourus borders haven’t you ever read The Grapes of Wrath or Bound for Glory? If there are more jobs then people wages rise if there are more people than jobs wages fall. And what do our politicians say liberal or conservative? George says we need a guest worker program and Nancy says we need limited amnesty and as George Wallace used to say theirs not a dimes worth of difference between them. If you sneak across the border into Mexico and work illegally you get arrested if you sneak into Japan illegally you get arrested if you sneak into China you get arrested ditto South Africa, Israel or Australia are they racist? Because if you suggest someone should be deported from this country you are.

I don’t blame the people for coming here I blame the politicians for making it happen. In Mexico since NAFTA was passed productivity is up 25% and wages are down 10% While GM and Ford lay off thousands profits for GM’s operation in China are up 300%. These things are no accident your future and the future of the next generation are being stolen from the country. For the last fifty years we have had a relatively classless economic society but that is no longer true the class war is over, and you lost! As Unions declined the need for non-union jobs to compete with benefits diminished as Union jobs declined health care benefits declined. But profits for healthcare insurers have skyrocketed.


Bill Clinton in his first term was going to try and do something about healthcare costs and they beat his ass with a big stick and no one dared try again. Oh it was terrible they were going to impose communism by making all the insurance companies use the same benefits claim form. But if they did that you might see through the smoke and mirrors of what they are supposed to pay they might have had to enlarge some of the small print. We hear about New Orleans why is the rebuilding going so slow the insurance companies won’t settle claims and the court docket is backed up seventeen years! Remember George said he was going to build Trent Lott a new house? No he’s not Trent’s going to court and if the senior Senator from Mississippi can’t get a fair shake from the insurance companies what chance does the average Joe have?

We have spent as of February 22, $368,164,338,968 in Iraq with another one hundred and fifty billion on the board for next year and then more still the year after that. And say what you want it’s about controlling energy supplies, now if we had spent that money on alternative energy sources we could control the future peacefully instead of the past violently. But who’s in charge of all of this? George and Dick are oilmen that’s what they know that’s what they do. Neither party has any vision here there is no difference between them. A lot of talk about the Patriot act and the national drivers license with built in ID chip but who is doing something about it? The Democrats? The Republicans? No, 38 states are fighting it because they will lose a revenue source.

We in the United States are having a debate about global warming we are almost alone in our debate. The rest of the world agrees that we must solve the problem Australia is doing away with conventional light bulbs saving nine tons of green house gases per year.
The UK is establishing a nationwide recycling program and the already recycles twice as much as the average American but only twenty five percent as much as the average German. Reading the world press I find debate on global warming only in the US and South Korea. Is the whole world wrong? Only the scientific experts at the oil companies are correct? Is this not the same tobacco argument reduex? But we want to talk about Al Gore flying on and airplane, which makes about as much sense as saying if I had urinated on the deck of the Titanic would it have sunk faster?

There is a fundamental disconnect in our country we imprison more of our population than almost any country on earth and we execute more than anyone but China with five times our population yet still have a crime problem. We spend billions of dollars combating illegal drugs yet they are available on every street corner and cheaper than your last prescription! We ask other countries to extradite drug king pins to the US but why are there are no drug king pins in this country? Do the drugs just fall from the sky into America’s ghettos and the profits blow on the four winds back to the producing countries?

The America you knew, as a child no longer exists Republicans aren’t Republicans and Democrats aren’t Democrats American soldiers are not fighting for freedom they are fighting for a global corporation to control something that’s not theirs for quote national security. Its not the soldiers that are responsible it is the politicians of both parties the soldiers took and oath to protect the Constitution not Exxon. It’s the politicians that don’t give enough of a damn to get our brothers Fathers Mothers and sisters out of there. They want the oil that’s what’s more important but they want to talk and grandstand but the fact is they don’t give a damn about them or they would be on their way home. and neither party gives a damn about you the average American and won’t until we make them care

If America once again had artists, music, and culture - a democratic society would be the norm, here in America -- but rather what we have is not even Democrats or even Republican, and liberal anymore, but in name only politicians - that get voted in - because they are rewarded with $$$ by being undemocratic, by those that have no regard for democracy.

There was a time, when they would at least seek some form of a true democracy, but that was years ago when we had JFK and FDR.
