Pelosi unauthorized on foreign policy
Pelosi unauthorized on foreign policy
U.S. Rep. Ron Kind of Wisconsin defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria saying that delivering tough words helps the president. He said if they hear it from the opposition party too, they're hearing a consistent message. That makes it sound like Pelosi supports President Bush's foreign policy.
Kind can deny Pelosi is usurping the president's constitutional authority, but Democrats are carrying out their own foreign policy and military policy on troop deployment. Only the president has the constitutional authority to speak for this country to foreign countries, especially in wartime.
Pelosi's trip advertises American disunity, and the Syrians will use it to destabilize Iraq and the Middle East. The opposition party's role is not to intervene abroad to undermine this country's foreign policy. Democrats can have any foreign policy they want when they are elected to the White House.
The Democrats' political strategy is to cause our defeat in Iraq, to ensure their own political victory in 2008, leaving us at the mercy of hate- filled lunatics with nuclear capability.
