Pelosi sours on Senate

She is between a rock and hard place at the moment.Bush, in every one of this speeches mocked the entire 'CONGRESS'----tells them to send him the appropriations bills. Makes it look like the House has not accomplished anything.

Pelosi sours on Senate

By Mike Soraghan and Manu Raju

October 17, 2007
Frustrated by lack of legislative progress in the Senate, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is increasingly touting Democratic achievements in the House.

Her statements represent a significant shift from the stance she took six months ago. In March, the Speaker celebrated the first 100 days of the congressional majority by stating, “Democrats have brought the winds of change to the Capitol.”

These days, she’s confined to claiming those winds are blowing on her side of the building. In the minds of her caucus members, the Senate is in the doldrums and House members are paying the price for Senate inaction on Democratic priorities.

When pressed on the slow progress of spending bills during ABC’s Sunday morning talk show “This Week,” Pelosi passed the buck to the Senate, saying, “In the House we’ve passed every one of our bills.”.......

7. Nope. Nancy "off the table" Pelosi rendered them impotent. . .
. . . with her edict before she even took up up the gavel.

There is no "accomplishing things for the American people" under rule by signing statement. Surrendering the nation to fascists is not just a dereliction of duty, it is political insanity.

2. Well, Congress HASN'T Done Its Job
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 07:21 AM by Demeter
I can't believe I'm agreeing with Bush here.

Congress has wasted a lot of time on meaningless or politically destabilizing "resolutions", but hasn't passed any budget, reined in or prosecuted a rogue regime, or restored our government's legality and functionality.

9. Uh, the prior Republican Congress simply walked away without passing a budget
That was one of the first things this Congress had to deal with

3. see more unpalatable compromises on issues like tax policy,
Looking ahead, Democrats in the lower chamber see more unpalatable compromises on issues like tax policy, where they are disappointed to see their goals in the hands of cautious centrist Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.). House Democrats say on tax issues, they are constantly told that nothing can get off the ground unless nine or 10 Republican senators will agree to it.

5. Actually I believe its on tax policy where we win because of the 2010 sunset and rebirth of Clinton
tax rates.

Doing nothing is sometimes a winner for Dems - it is not just a GOP ploy.

6. And Democrats are souring on Pelosi.
She condemns one Turkey for something that doesn't affect us, but refuses to do anything about the OTHER Turkey, the one her constitutes are begging her to de-bone.

The pukes were able to impeach Clinton inside two months -- from start to finish. On November 4, 1998, the House wasn't considering impeachment, but by January, 1999, it was a done deal. The pubs knew they couldn't convict Clinton; they didn't care -- they just wanted to hurt and insult him.

Pelosi could do the same thing to Bush, but seemingly would rather cause needless trouble rather
than take necessary action.

8. Passed "every bill" except the ONLY one that matters -- a Bill of Impeachment.
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 02:50 PM by pat_k
Passed "every one of our bills" except the ONLY one capable of saying "No! Americans REFUSE to be torturers who spy on their own citizens."

Passed "every one of our bills" except for the ONLY one capable of putting an end to rule by signing statement.

You go girl. Keep up your impotent gesturing. Keep passing bills that bushnchcney would just violate anyway. Maybe you can drive Congressional approval http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3031593">EVEN LOWER
