(Gerald) Ford bio takes shots at Clintons and Cheney
Source: NewsDay

WASHINGTON - Ex-President Gerald Ford thought Hillary Rodham Clinton would make a better president than her "sex addict" husband, according to a new biography of the late chief executive.

Ford, who died late last year at 93, also told author Thomas DeFrank he thought Dick Cheney was a "liability" during the 2004 election and preferred replacing him on the GOP ticket with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, whom he described as "electrifying." But the 38th president refused to help push Cheney, his one-time protege, out the door, DeFrank told CNN.

"She's stronger and tougher than he is," Ford said when asked to compare Hillary and Bill Clinton. "She's very bright, she's strong, and I think he defers to her."

...

Ford told DeFrank that Clinton was the most gifted politician he'd ever seen but thought his affair with Monica Lewinsky proved "He's sick - he's got an addiction."

Shortly before he died, Ford predicted Hillary Clinton would be her party's nominee but wouldn't win the White House. "I don't think the country is ready for a lady president," Ford is quoted as saying. "That would be a great contest between Hillary and Rudy."

1. This man pardoned Nixon. His insights are worthless.

3. Exactly. He's Been Proven Wrong Before
While Ford pardoned Nixon because he thought it was the best thing for the country, time has proven the error of his decision. And there's no way Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the Retreads should have gotten off scot-free during Watergate OR Iran/Contra.

11. Not me, he is a dead
ex-president after all regardless if we all think that he is or was an idiot. What bothers me is when they name ships in the military after someone before they die like they did for Reagan, Carter and Bush Sr.
Those 3 while former presidents just did not deserve that honor atleast not until they died.

5. So Ford really was an idiot
Petty, partisan and small minded.

His predictions about the upcoming election are interesting considering he lost his own race for the WH.

8. And that's why Ford disrespected Cheney?
 I think the partisanship blinds both sides of the argument.

Let's call it a wash?

16. sick sex addict
might as well get it right. Yes, that sounds a little more disparaging than "liability", especially when Cheney was off on an adulterous vacation when he shotgunned his friend.

He would have never been elected President. Sort of like George Bush.

15. "Sex addict?"
Oh good grief. Where was the huge line of women coming forward during Impeachment? There were a handful. A pretty minimal number IMHO of someone who is a 'sex addict.' Even Jennifer Flowers commented that Clinton was a gentleman.

I'd put money on Rudy if there were a score sheet between him and Bill.

17. Ford even considered the idea of serving as Ronnie's V.P.
but Ronnie wouldn't accede to his demands to be a co-president.

He apparently didn't know Rudy enough to realize that Rudy needs to be the star of the show, and Preznit Junior will not be outshone.
