In last week’s column, I mistakenly attributed a quotation from Michael Medved to Michelle Malkin. I regret the error.

None of the SURGE troops went to Anbar province there bonehead. All of the surge troops were for Baghdad you useless hump.

4. No, actually.

This has been hashed out before. The primary focus of the additional troops was Baghdad. But a fair number also went to Anbar, and that was part of the original "plan".

"Most of the surge troops were for Baghdad, you useless hump," would have been correct, but rendered the point moot.

Here's a paragraph from the first announcement of the surge:

So I have given orders to increase American forces in Anbar Province by 4,000 troops. These troops will work with Iraqi and tribal forces to keep up the pressure on the terrorists. America's men and women in uniform took away al Qaeda's safe haven in Afghanistan -- and we will not allow them to re-establish it in Iraq...."

You can get the same thing from NYT or WaPo articles with later dates of publication, but tracing it back to Jan. '07 seems to be easiest.
