Kristol already has to admit to error in a NYT Op-ed
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/14/opinion/14kristol.html?ref=opinion

In last week’s column, I mistakenly attributed a quotation from Michael Medved to Michelle Malkin. I regret the error.

 Easy to do, they all pretty much say the same thing

Next week he should be noting the following error

But Sunni tribes in Anbar announced in September 2006 that they would join to fight Al Qaeda. That was two months before the Democrats won control of Congress. The Sunni tribes turned not primarily because of fear of the Shiites, but because of their horror at Al Qaeda’s atrocities in Anbar. And the improvements in Anbar could never have been sustained without aggressive American military efforts — efforts that were more effective in 2007 than they had been in 2006, due in part to the addition of the surge forces.

None of the SURGE troops went to Anbar province there bonehead. All of the surge troops were for Baghdad you useless hump.

4. No, actually.
This has been hashed out before. The primary focus of the additional troops was Baghdad. But a fair number also went to Anbar, and that was part of the original "plan".

"Most of the surge troops were for Baghdad, you useless hump," would have been correct, but rendered the point moot.

Here's a paragraph from the first announcement of the surge:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/01/20070110-7.html
"... Our military forces in Anbar are killing and capturing al Qaeda leaders, and they are protecting the local population. Recently, local tribal leaders have begun to show their willingness to take on al Qaeda. And as a result, our commanders believe we have an opportunity to deal a serious blow to the terrorists. So I have given orders to increase American forces in Anbar Province by 4,000 troops. These troops will work with Iraqi and tribal forces to keep up the pressure on the terrorists. America's men and women in uniform took away al Qaeda's safe haven in Afghanistan -- and we will not allow them to re-establish it in Iraq...."

You can get the same thing from NYT or WaPo articles with later dates of publication, but tracing it back to Jan. '07 seems to be easiest.
