A Look at the Biggest Winners and Losers Under the Bush Administration
(This is a GREAT resource that www.MicCheckRadio.org launched today with little nuggets of info on the many awful problems created by the Bush Administration)

We’ve Got 99 Problems, But A Human-Animal Hybrid Ain’t One

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/01/99problems.html

As President Bush’s days of power draw to a close, one thing is clear: We’ve got a lot more problems now than we did seven years ago. Here are 99 of them, everything from less money to more war and a planet in crisis. It’s not a comprehensive list, so we have one question for you:

What’s your problem?

(NOTE: If you click the link you can view the entire list and also all of the responses that people gave to the question above.)

PS---For non-boring State Of The Union Coverage tonight, check out www.theyoungturks.com and or www.bravenewfilms.org. They will be simulcasting awesome progressive coverage from 8-11pm EST. Seriously though, just watching the entire SOTU without commentary is not very interesting. Nor is watching the TV Talking head commentary (I doubt they'll be especially honest, insightful or funny, or call out Bush on the likely BS in his speech).

4. The best part is that everything is sourced!
I'm sending this list to everyone (ok, not *everyone* but you get the idea). Conservative friends and family NEED to see this!

Most of them would tune out long, drawn out articles but the beauty is how concise and easy to read this particular format is. If nothing else, you can pick out a few nuggets a particular person might find interesting and just share those.

2. wow. that is one hell of a list. k/r
and it didn't even include the 'war criminals getting off scot-free' problem

I also found the sidebar of 'The Five Who Had a Good Ride' very compelling.

Thanks for the link!

5. Yeah
It was a nice touch to include the short list of who *has* benefitted. It creates more context that makes the list of 99 even more damning.

10. I believe Robert Greenwald will be on as well
I just watched his movie Wal-Mart: The High Cost Of Low Price. Incredibly ineresting movie! At any rate, the coverage should be a lot of fun.

6. In the long run there were no winners, all ultimately will be losers.
The Republican machine, running on the philosophy of Republicanism will go down in history as being the must destructive cult in the history of mankind.

14. I sent this to a couple of fiscally conservative friends/acquaintances
strangely enough (wink, wink), they have yet to respond.

Of course I hope they read it but there's a good chance they just deleted it based on the subject line.

15. I've only heard from one person so far...
...a fellow Dem. Silence is the usual reaction these days from the conservatives I know.

They know we're onto the lies, they know we're not falling for their same old tactics and deceptions anymore, they know their ideology has borne bitter fruit, and they've run out of things to say.

Their time is up and they know it. I'm perfectly willing to give them some time to come around gracefully and save face, but I fear many of them are just too dense to take advantage of that window of opportunity.

17. The Thing Is
Obviously it's hard to accept being proven wrong. But this isn't sports where you pick a team and root for them no matter how good or bad they are.

Currently, there is that 30% or so who waive that giant foam finger that says "Go Republicans!". It's really depressing.

19. There will always be that 30%, I guess.
I don't know why, but that's just the way it is. They used to frustrate and depress me, but not anymore.

I point out the evidence and offer my hand; if they choose not to see it and/or reject it, I just move on and hope that the next progressive they meet will catch them at the right time.

16. How can *anyone* deny that bush has been a total, complete failure?
It's heartbreaking to read through this list and realize once again the depth and extent of the endless damage this awful administration has brought upon America. Nothing since the Civil War has hurt us as a nation as badly as the constant attacks and destruction by these despicable crooks. I am so sick of them I could scream!
