between 1 man and 2 women. It was entered into by mutual consent of all three participants when all three were adults. The man is only married to one of the women because he can only marry one. I think if they could, each member would be married to both of the others. All of this came out because the unmarried woman lost her job and he wanted to add her to his company insurance policy.
I've known of couples who have open relationships (she wanted it that way), master/slave relationships, relatively traditional relationships (she stays home to raise the kids), and non-traditional relationships (he stays home to watch the kids). As long as the relationship is entered into by mature adults with open eyes, its their business.
I think that calling this situation polygamy is a bit of a misnomer. This is more like a harem system. While the women are not bought and sold on the auction block, they are essentially slaves (property of the men). Its not so much the multiple wives part that is a problem, it is the complete lack of rights or options for the women. If the women have options and choose to be in a polygamous relationship (I've certainly read of women who liked sharing the sexual "demands" of their spouse with multiple men and sharing the raising of the children with multiple women) and it works for them, what do I care?)
