Gates Touts Huge Sales Success Of Windows Vista
Posted on: 12-05-2008

Hollywood (eCanadaNow) - Bill Gates spoke in Tokyo last week, touting the immense sales of the Windows Vista operating system.

Gates stated that Vista, since releasing in 2006, has sold more than 140 million copies.

He stated that Windows Vista is right on par with where the success of Windows XP was during its life.

Gates called the sales rate of Windows Vista a "very rapid sales rate."

Microsoft has been taking a lot of heat for Windows Vista due to the fact that many people have not wanted to upgrade from Windows XP to the next-gen operating system.

Things apparently are not going badly at all though for Vista in terms of sales. Microsoft, it seems, may not be so prone to rush out Windows 7, the follow-up to Vista after all.

1. Not where I work
We're staying on XP for the foreseeable future. Microsoft has long relied on gullible customers eager to be "first adopters" to be on the bleeding edge and find all the defects they were too busy to find in development and testing. Most businesses have wised up and stopped falling for the bait.

Eventually, of course, MS will strongarm all Windows users into going with Vista. Yet another reason to go Mac or Linux.

2. LOL! This guy is as honest as George Bush
Vista has been a disaster. Manufactures still want to sell computers with XP. I suspect it's giving Linux a huge opening to take a bigger chunk of the market.

14. It's a smoke and mirrors game
The computers that are shipping with XP are really sold with Vista and then a downgrade license allowing XP to be installed on the hardware. People are "buying" Vista, even though XP is what they're using.

5. Hmmm....that's a very deceptive statement!
Sorta like saying the success of catalytic converters for all new cars was terrific, but not adding BECAUSE THEY WERE MADE MANDATORY!

8. Exactly
I regret not backgrading my laptop to XP last year, before it had as much on it.

10. I had to buy a new computer after mine was euthanized by lightening.
IIt of course had VISTA...I couldn't find a new one with XP, but I've had very, very little problems with it. I had ONE program that wasn't compatable and a 5 yo digital camera that wasn't compatable either, but that's it. It's really not that I hate VISTA, I just don't like to be forced into anything that should be MY DECISION!

6. Gates definition of success
I've been able to unload more of my buggy malware onto more poor shmucks who don't actually have a choice in the matter than I thought I would.

12. Define "sales"
If you count the new computers sold with Vista on it, the numbers are probably real. If you count just Vista sold separately, I doubt it. I bet the sales of individual copies of XP still outpace the sales of Vista.

15. Yup! I like Vista and I've put it on three other computers too - best OS MS has ever made
XP was shitty compared to Vista. Vista is awesome. Don't listen to the MS haters - they would hate Jesus if he opened up a Windows laptop in front of them.
