To Curb Truancy, Dallas Tries Electronic Monitoring

Dave Leis, a spokesman for NovaTracker, which makes the system used in Dallas, said electronic monitoring did not have to be punitive. “You can paint this thing as either Big Brother, or this is a device that connects you to a buddy who wants to keep you safe and help you graduate.”

2. That might be good for my 16 year old daughter who decided she wasn't going to school yesterday,
and wasn't going to come home last night. She is already in the alternative high school and seems determined to get kicked out of that too. So, probably no graduation for her. If teens are determined not to go to school, there is not much a parent can do. Electronic monitoring might be good to at least know where they are and if they are alive.
