Tenn Repubs to Sentence Foster Children to Life
In Tennessee the legislators on the Republican side are trying to pass a bill that will make it illegal for any but married couples to adopt. This will sentence more and more foster kids to a lifetime of foster care, shuttling between homes and never with a permanent parent. they are doing so to “protect” the children from being adopted by gays.

1. Because once again the "right to life" types
could give a flying F**K about the kids once they're born. It's all about posturing for their yahoo constituency

7. Yes, it is about posturing
not about responsible caretaking for our youth.

2. Oh yeah must protect the children
and I am sure "protecting" a cheap form of farm labor has nothing to do with it.

3. There is a foster child scandal going in the christian-right community.
Edited on Tue Mar-03-09 09:50 AM by Joanne98
I used to listen to christian radio in 1996. (no choice) They had three talk shows. Randall Terry live, Crosstalk and another one I can't remember. They actually talked about this on their shows. Terry bragged he was making more on the welfare checks than their parents were. They're restricting the eligibility so they can corner more of the market. Someday someone will investigate this an hit pay dirt. I'd talk to the ex-foster children for info. Randall Terry bragged about using his for free-labor in his vending machine business.

And NO there's no transcripts. This was back in the 90's when no one paid attention to what they were saying. They talked a lot.

10. Are these children people to them?
I guess their Christianista superiority really does regard foster children as less then other children who would be linked by blood to the "proper Christian families".

These people are monsters. They can look at little children as slave labor and a way to get money.

11. If they were merely fertilized eggs
Then the kids would be treated like people. As is, the Repubs in Tennessee want to limit their chances at a permanent home with parents.

13. And the really evil part...
These kids will grow up in the Foster Care system, without a stable home environment.

As good as many foster parents are, it's just not the same.

So eventually the kids are let go to make their ways through life however they can. Some will succeed. Many more will not. They'll become people who do not positively contribute to Society. Some will become criminals.

Then they'll be blamed for being what they were programmed to be from the instant of their births.

Scapegoats for the hatred of Society...especially the "Compassionate Conservatives". And fodder for the executioner's needle.

Gotta keep the prisons in business. Gotta keep the executioners employed. Gotta provide them (the Repub assholes) with people to HATE because they hate themselves so much and don't even know it.

4. I see such a hypocracy in being both anti choice and anti gay marriage.
if gay couples adopt babies that would have otherwise been aborted, doesn't everyone benefit?

12. Freep exploding head games....
Wanna know how to drive them crazy?

Well, crazier...

give 'em the chance to make a moral decision using their own prejudices against them...

Would they rather see this embryo ----> * be aborted, or would they rather see it be born and adopted by gay parents

Only one choice, and no changing the parameters of the question.

Guaranteed to turn them into blithering idiots as they try desperately to get out of having to actually use their heads for something other than hat racks.

15. Ugghhh!!!
There is no evidence whatsoever that growing up with gay parents harms children (or even makes them more likely to be gay!) There is, on the other hand, plenty of evidence that children are psychologically harmed, often permanently, by growing up in institutions or non-permanent foster care and not having their own family.
