United Nations investigating Bush administration for rendition, torture
Excerpt:

The United Nations announced yesterday that they have begun a global investigation of CIA rendition flights that occurred under the Bush administration's war on terror. Reports have surfaced that the CIA flew suspected terrorists to countries other than the U.S. for interrogation in what are called secret prisons around the world where suspects were allegedly tortured.

The rendition of suspects took place without going through proper extradition channels. The suspects were flown to countries where interrogators could question and allegedly torture suspects free from the constraints of international and U.S. law.

1. I think investigations such as this will ultimately force Obama's hand
in investigating Bushco. Will America stand by and allow other organizations to investigate and uncover evidence of war crimes by Bush? I don't think so. Obama will want to maintain control over investigations of former Presidents, I would think.

And the only way to put a stop to these investigations is to perform one ourselves, and prosecute for any crimes uncovered.

We do have obligations to other countries and to the United Nations, and if nothing is done, we will be in violation of those responsibilities. I don't really see an out for Obama to not investigate and prosecute.

9. The Bush quagmire deepens daily, it seems. I sure hope no more good men go down as
a result of the Bushies' years in power, but that seems about as likely as Cheney having a soul.

10. It's occurred to me that Cheney may be the one to bring Bush down
Cheney can't seem to help bragging about his sadistic antics in the Bush administration and he's also mad at Bush so....hmm.

4. It is a backwards country which has to wait for the UN to do what is right.
Oh how morally bankrupt our government has become.

5. I have to say that I've been surprised at the lack of interest by the Obama
administration. I understand why he doesn't want to be seen as being 'persecutorial' towards a former president but I don't think that precludes him investigating crimes committed by the former administration and in fact I think the present administration has a duty to do something about this problem.

11. Good let's get this
Party started. Seeing how we've had the Warren commission and the 9/11 commission that leave out facts I think we need a new mind set to solve this case once and for all. As long as the UN has Obama's blessing and Obama turns Bush and Cheney over I don't see a problem with it. Bush declared war on terror and gave no boundaries so let the world judge him and his ilk.
