Canada Should Bar or Prosecute Bush: Type in Google; “Calgary Canada Bush” and Watch the Results

As George W. Bush’s St. Patrick’s Day visit to Calgary draws near, the federal government is facing pressure from activists and human rights lawyers to bar the former U.S. president from the country or prosecute him for war crimes and crimes against humanity once he steps on Canadian soil.

1. PM Harper would sooner cut off his right hand
than allow his good buddy and hero, Bush the war criminal, to get dissed by Canada.

8. You got that right
Harper goes weak in the knees when he thinks about Bush.

And remember, this is the same government that denied access to the Iraq war deserters, despite massive public support for letting them stay.

3. Got any smelly old sneakers that you don't want any more?
They want them in Calgary.

A coalition calling itself People vs. Bush has planned a week of protest activities, starting Wednesday at noon with a banner display near the downtown Telus Convention Centre, where Bush is set to speak next week "on eight momentous years in the Oval Office" and "the challenges facing the world in the 21st century."

Group spokeswoman Collette Lemieux said the activists will come from as far away as Vancouver and Toronto to participate.

"I think a lot of people are really motivated by the idea that we have to make it really clear to him that he's not off the hook," she said. "I think it's important to people who think that he has committed war crimes to not just let this go by the wayside."

The group plans to hold a mock war crimes trial for Bush this weekend and stage a peaceful rally outside his speech next Tuesday. Lemieux is asking those who can't participate to send their shoes for a symbolic protest echoing the Iraqi journalist who threw his footwear at Bush.

4. one of the many hits:

George Bush is coming to Calgary! Send shoes to give Bush the boot.

Matthew Brett, March 3rd, 2009

George Bush’s first international speech after finishing his presidency will be to the Calgary Rotary Club on March 17th, the sixth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and the Calgary’s activist community would like to give him the welcome he deserves.

There will events throughout the week leading to Bush’s visit but for those outside Calgary we wanted to give you a chance to give him his due welcome. To that end the local activist community in Calgary is asking people from around Canada to send us your old shoes so they can be a symbol to boot Bush Out of Canada! We are hoping people will send shoes in from across the country to show solidarity.

that was a good google. the bastard should never be allowed to peacefully show his face in public - well he should be in prison, but anyhow. obviously some people in other parts of the world have not forgotten the crimes of his administration.

6. It would be a good thing
if this little rout-about in Canada gives the criminal ex-prez pause in considering other speechifying events that put more money in his pockets. The hubris is incredible - very telling that his first effort at mimicing Bill Clinton is out of the country.

7. Canada, I doubt it anytime soon, sadly.
They've gotten soft and lap-doggy under Harper, sorry to say, extraditing deserters, for one, where they used to provide safe haven for draft evaders. Maybe Europe, I hope. No offense to Canadian comrades, I know many feel differently, but there's no avoiding the fact that Canada's engagement with the US has become almost entirely uncritical.

9. Don't confuse our government with our people
The last poll I ever saw on Bush was about 88% negative.

And the majority of us DON'T want Harper. Unfortunately, the way our electoral system works, the mostly liberal vote got split among 4 political parties (NDP, Green, Liberal, and BQ).

Trust me, there's nothing we'd like more than to see Bush standing before an ICC judge.

The only lap dogs we have in Canada, alas, are the few that are currently in power.

10. This is embarrassing!
I didn't think there were enough pigs living in my city that would be willing, be eager, to eat up the slop about to be be spewed out by this piece of shit. Looks like there are!

The dark, seamy, criminal underbelly of my city is having the light shone on it....and it ain't pretty!

I don’t think they will be holding up a sign reading, “Mission Accomplished” unless he gets arrested for war crimes.
