Sacha Baron Cohen briefly trained as an Alabama National Guard officer in Anniston, Alabama. The "Borat" actor was given a uniform and participated in officer training briefly.

The Cohen crew called ahead of time and pretended to be interested in showing what it would be like to be in an officer candidate school in the U.S. and claimed to be a German television station crew making a documentary. According to the AP, military officials greeted Cohen and his crew at the gate and offered escort.

The ruse was only discovered when a young cadet recognized the actor and reported who he was to senior officers.
