"An American outrage: Bernie, AIG, and us" by Rosemary and Walter Brasch (3-25-09 Online Journal)
"There have been more than 4,000 deaths and 30,000 casualties of American military in the war in Iraq. More than a million Iraqis and others, most of them civilians, have also been killed in what is now known to be an unnecessary war. But we as a nation have not been outraged."

2. Here I sit whaling away at my keyboard after reading DU and HufPo and Firedoglake.
My indignation quota has been filled to overflowing for hours. How many email requests have I sent to my Senators and Reps today? Six.

Meanwhile, in my house the other occupants are more worried about what movie is playing, who Aunt Freda was married to before she married Uncle Eddie, whether their favorite team will win the NCAA title, etc. etc.

They paid attention during the Presidential campaign. Now they are on auto pilot. Living their lives oblivious to the political machinations and death and destruction being wrought by the Empire.

Sadly, that is the norm. The political awareness is too frustrating, too scary, and too time-consuming for the average "citizen".

That's why the Imperial Overlords will continue to rule with impunity.
