Philadelphia Inquirer Publishes Advertising as Opinion Column
The Inquirer today published on its OpEd pages as column by a Comcast executive that is basically an apologia for why their customers will not be getting the NFL Network this fall. Seriously, it is a worked over press release. So, want to bet that Comcast is one of the biggest ad buyers at Brian Tierney’s new and improved Inquirer?

1. This type of thing has been going on for so long. Opinion
cloaked as advertising or news. This Comcast maneuver is typical of them.
Another one that used to grate on my mind:

I remember vividly yelling at the radio at Paul Harvey with his supposed news. All it was is right wing propaganda spit out by one of their high paid lackeys. It was not news, it was his very biased opinion. I finally stopped listening to my Boston station after a time. Just could not stand it anymore.

2. On the OpEd page?
No, I have not seen advertisements cloaked as OpEds on the Inquirer pages. I've seen right wing doofuses, but not this.

3. My mistake for not making my point clearer. I meant to point out
that opinion fed to us as news is common and I was referring to radio commentators.

4. Yeah, this is not new to me
I sent an email to the big guy at Editor and Publisher to see what he thinks. I was just stunned when I saw it. The Publisher of the Inquirer probably is buddies with the bigwigs at Comcast, so this is likely a favor to help their bisiness.
