Innocent People Suffering at the Hands of the Judicial System It Could Happen to You

The majority of people who are exonerated (determined to not be guilty of a crime that they have been serving time in prison for)are let out without apology, or compensation. When they look for a job, home/car/anything loan, they must provide the information that they have been convicted of a crime even though they have been proven by law not guilty. I propose that once exonerated, the records of exonerated person must be expunged (have their record cleared of the conviction)for all record of subject conviction.

1. i don't think expungement is an adequate compensation

it doesn't matter if the record is expunged, if i show up and ask for a job and i have no job history for 15 years, even if the employer doesn't know i was in prison, he is going to assume i was away on drugs bumming off my friends/family and i'm not getting the job -- would you hire someone with a 15 yr work gap? i sure wouldn't!!!

in my humble opinion, there needs to be far more than just overturning the conviction and expunging the old record, there does need to be heavy duty financial compensation since the victim is never getting his youth back and probably won't ever have much of a career or a future as anything except a drain on his family

i mention 15 years because a man near me was falsely convicted of rape and was only freed 15 years later when new DNA tests found the real rapist, still, this guy will not get his youth back, he's pretty much not in a very good situation -- just living off his family, you know? how can it end well for him?

also i am DAMN sick and tired of the immunity shield for bad-acting prosecutors, who steal people's lives with false convictions, knowing they will never have to answer for it

here is an example that still pisses me off --

consider all the people, prosecutors and cops, who had to collude to invent the story of "the wilding" rape in central park to convict all of those young boys and send them for prison -- many years later it was proved by confession/DNA that one man (who was not known to them) was the sole attacker of the woman -- i don't blame the woman, who lost 80 percent of her blood and had no memory of the attack, she is not the one who falsely accused the boys -- but i blame the cops and prosecutors who deliberately built up a case of lies, they pretty much invented all that "wilding" bullshit from scratch to prosecute these boys and steal their youth -- why aren't they all in prison for a like amount of time served by each of the boys?

we already know that jury trials do not work to find the truth, we need a completely new system, where people with strong scientific and legal training decide cases, NOT people off the street with no training

i don't allow someone not trained in science to tell me how old a bunch of dinosaur bones are -- something that has NO effect on my future -- but i will let someone not trained in law or science tell me if they have the right rapist? that is BULLSHIT, my friends


and yes i'm well aware of it can happen to me, as i was once falsely accused of a crime myself, plus i know others who were falsely accused and in a couple of cases convicted of stuff they didn't do, it just pisses me off no end
