Arab Sheikh (UAE) caught on video torturing a farmer
Edited on Mon Apr-27-09 12:14 PM by sledgehammer
This is just horrific. There's a video in the link that shows part of the torture.

All this for a dispute over $5k. Incredible!

Obviously, no charges or anything will be filed against the Sheikh. But it is a pretty damning video.

<snip>

Nabulsi says the video tapes were recorded by his brother, on orders from the Sheikh who liked to watch the torture sessions later in his royal palace.

The Sheikh begins by stuffing sand down the man's mouth, as the police officers restrains the victim.

Then he fires bullets from an automatic rifle around him as the man howls incomprehensibly.

He uses an electric cattle prod against the man's testicles and inserts it in his anus.

At another point, as the man wails in pain, the Sheikh pours lighter fluid on the man's testicles and sets them aflame.

Then the tape shows the Sheikh sorting through some wooden planks. "I remember there was one that had a nail in it," he says on the tape.

The Sheikh then pulls down the pants of the victim and repeatedly strikes him with board and its protruding nail. At one point, he puts the nail next to the man's buttocks and bangs it through the flesh.

"Where's the salt," asks the Sheikh as he pours a large container of salt on to the man's bleeding wounds.

The victim pleads for mercy, to no avail.

The final scene on the tape shows the Sheikh positioning his victim on the desert sand and then driving over him repeatedly. A sound of breaking bones can be heard on the tape.

3. Exactly...
That's kind of why I posted it. The torture-mongers probably love this stuff. Can't see how they could criticize this.

5. Actually it is used for the purpose..
of justifying our own love of torture. Pretty obvious. "They did it too" is a consistent defense used by the Republican party. It stopped working a long time ago for me, but I guess there are some that cling to any attempt at rationalization.

6. I know, it's scary.
That we'd want to stoop to the level of the people/actions we despise is pathetic.

But for these repugs, anything to justify their blood-thirstiness. I'm pretty sure they wish they were Arab sheikhs in a different life, so that they could torture at will and get away with it.

7. They don't have to wish..
Obviously our government tortures at will. The difference being we get to torture anyone, anytime and at any place on the globe, legally. The Arab Sheiks certainly can't say that. What the hey, we have military bases in their countries. "Land of the free, home of the brave"..now "Land of the Torturers, Home of the Sadistic Cowards" We put everyone to shame when it comes to torture.

8. I was referring more to...
...the average teabagger, who spends a good portion of life fantasizing about torture but doesn't get the chance.

2. This was on tv around a week ago. The "investigation" said that no laws were broken,
therefore there will be no punishment.

4. Laws don't apply to Arab sheikhs
So yes, in that sense, the authorities are indeed correct that no laws were broken!!!

Incredible, really incredible.
