(Ky Sec. of State - R) Grayson studies Senate bid as reports say Bunning may retire
Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson announced yesterday that he has formed a committee to explore a race next year for Republican Jim Bunning's Senate seat -- though he continued to insist that he won't run if Bunning stays in the campaign.

At the same time, two Washington newspapers, Politico and The Hill, reported on their Web sites that Bunning appears headed for retirement and said, quoting sources, that Bunning had given Grayson his blessing to establish the committee.

But the senator's spokesman, Mike Reynard, insisted nothing has changed: "Senator Bunning has every intention of running."

He declined to comment on whether Grayson had met with Bunning.
