Senator Blasts Cheney's Defense of Interrogation Methods

NEW YORK—A scheduled talk on challenges to U.S. foreign policy turned into an unscripted blasting of former Vice President Dick Cheney, on comments about interrogation methods used at Guantanamo Bay.

Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Democratic chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, challenged Cheney’s opinion during a speech at the Foreign Policy Association Annual Dinner in New York on Wednesday.

“Former Vice President Cheney’s world view, which so dominated the Bush years and so dishonored our nation, gained a little traction last week,” Levin said. “Enough to persuade me to address it here tonight.”
