Who should resign over Iraq?
Edited on Tue May-04-04 12:05 AM by grytpype
No one in the Administration has lost his or her job over Iraq. And as they struggle to cover their asses and justify their earlier bad decisions, the situation gets worse and worse.

It's looking like a change of leadership may be the only chance we have of getting an acceptable outcome in Iraq. And when America finally does clear the bats out of its belfry, who should go?

(more, with poll)

I'm picturing a press conference with all of them under a "we suck-we're sorry" banner.

4. Realistically.
I mean, they're all going to go on January 20 2005. But if there really are resignations before then, who could realistically go?

7. Realistically? All of them!

If this was a perfect world, of course. Since perfect it ain't, they are a couple that are screaming to be first to go-Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and I'd throw Powell in there, too. Doug Feith, basically all the defense dingbats. Can Generals resign? Then add Myers to that group. Okay, maybe not Powell. (But I heard his name mentioned in regards to human rights, about a report coming out that he was supposed to have ignored. Really, though, he should quit anyway. The little credibility he had has long since gone south.)

Cheney, too.

17. By everybody
I do hope you actually mean that the united states needs to be disbanded since that may be the only thing that will end the madness now.

2. Bush*
This guy has failed his way to the top. There's no where for him to go, so he sits tight.

I knew it the day he was selected that this was bad news for our country. I knew it. I wish I had been wrong.

:-(

3. The whole Pentagon "cabal"
...meaning the neocons who ran the OSP and were the architects not only of the bungled war, but of the massive deceptions that led up to it.

Anyone who signed the PNAC should resign. Anyone tainted with the diversion of funds from the effort in Afghanistan to capture as many Al Qaeda agents as possible to the troop buildup prior to the war.

That just about means most of the Bush gang and the ones who advised them from the Pentagon.

This will be a start at getting our country back. Just cleaning out the Pentagon will give us a good start, since that building contains groups of policy wonks that have now lied us into two disastrous wars (Vietnam and Iraq) based on screwball ideology and a complete lack of understanding the people and politics in the region.

14. Powell should resign
I mean, let's get real here.

There's not a chance in hell that any of the other key players will resign.

But Powell was opposed to invading Iraq. It violated the "doctrine" he established in the first Gulf war -- clearly defined objective, overwhelming force, exit strategy.

Although he failed in his duty to his country by helping to make this war possible when he presented the administration's "case" before the UN last Frebruary, he is definitely an outsider of the neocon cabal and is not likely to be part of (God forbid) another Bush term.

He could go a long way to rectifying his complicity in this administration's crimes by resigning before the election and being truthful and forthcoming about WHY.

I ain't saying this is gonna happen, but discussions about the others resigning is little more than fantasizing.

18. Actually, nobody should have to resign
Since this is an unelected junta, it should suffice to throw Bush's personal belongings out on the White House lawn and tell him to walk back to Crawford.

He can wait there until an escort comes to take him to The Hague for trial.
