By Cenk Uygur

Free market fundamentalists say the real problem with our financial sector is that they are over-regulated. If we just let the banks regulate themselves that we wouldn't have any problems. Rush Limbaugh says http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ziQH7H06p4|Goldman Sachs is the victim>. The government caused the problems with all of their rules and regulations.

Interesting. Would Rush go to a Las Vegas casino that wasn't regulated by the government? Would any of you? Would you trust that the casinos will regulate themselves? Don't worry, they won't fix the roulette table or cheat on any of the games because of the invisible hand of the free market. There's an invisible hand alright, it's the one reaching into your pocket.

If the casinos set their own rules and the government never checked in on them to see if they were cheating, only absolute suckers of the world would go to those casinos. Unfortunately, that's exactly the situation we have right now in our financial sector...

3. That's not the main point of the article.
But since he's mentioned it's a nice title teaser. Read the whole thing, it's much more substantive than Limbaugh.

6. What isn't the main point?
To only refute Limbaugh.

The larger point is why it's so important to regulate (and in some cases ban) derivatives.

4. Limbaugh isn't just stupid, he's a liar.
How do I know? After the health care bill was passed and people were talking about the epidemic of Conservative violence and death threats, he was trying to say the left were the violent ones. His evidence? They're biting conservatives' fingers off! Yeah, but everybody knows the conservative guy who had his finger bitten off by a Democrat went on Fox News and said yeah, I attacked the guy and he bit my finger off, what can you do?

10. I believe so.
You'd think that would be politically damaging since most Americans want strong reform according to a recent poll.
